Bagshott Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 I have two saitek throttle quadrants set up for twin engine bomber use. 1) I have one mapped for the right engine and one mapped for the left engine. 2) each engine has mapped a throttle, prop pitch, and mixture. 3) When I fly a twin only the throttle lever works. The prop and mixture levers are dead. 4) When I move the throttle lever the pitch lever moves with it. Any ideas on how to get the levers to work properly and independent of the throttle levers? Thanks Baggy
Seb71 Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 The engine management is in manual mode (in the game)?
[APAF]VR_Spartan85 Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 Also don’t forget, some engine control is don’t with switches, eg, pe2 has a switch for prop pitch so it may not work on an axis control. And the he111 I think has stages for the radiator and oil cooling... It’s kinda tricky to match up controller inputs to the simulated plane on axis controller.
Sokol1 Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 (edited) Quote 4) When I move the throttle lever the pitch lever moves with it. Is because you have some "gamey engine management aids" ON, like cruise control, radiator control. If want manage all, use Custom settings and uncheck all aids for engine - for convenience leave "engine start warmed" (or something similar) OFF don't need await engine warm-up. And as Spartan85 say, mind you that no all planes IRL has prop pitch, mixture... on levers (axis), some use electric ON-OFF switches. Edited June 12, 2018 by Sokol1

Yankee_One Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 (edited) Sorry He is flying a "fränkische Rostbratwurst"? Edited June 12, 2018 by Yankee_One 1

Edited 47 minutes ago by Yankee_One Sorry mate, wrong spelling. The correct spelling is: fränggische Rosdbradwoaschd As long as it is not one of those small 'Nürnberger Bratwürste', which you can put in your mouth in one piece. And BTW, I will have them for dinner today, but not with Sauerkraut. Edited June 12, 2018 by Yogiflight 1

Thanks Baggy Reason I see : you are flying with normal difficulty settings, or flying on a server with normal settings. Two solutions : 1) Change mission settings to expert to see if it does change something or, like Sokol suggested, go with custom settings and disable all engine aids (or try a MP server with expert settings). 2) In the key mapping menu, under engine control you have at the top of the list Automatic Mixture and supercharger, RPM limiter and Automatic radiator control. Use these to disable all aids while flying in Normal mode, you should regain control of all the levers in your aicraft. Mind that in most german planes (IIRC all except the Hs129 and Ju52) mixture is strictly automatic and the pilot don't have any possibility to go manual on them. Bagshott Posted June 12, 2018 Author Posted June 12, 2018 Many thanks for your intuitive wisdom and experience. I have set custom settings with all auto stuff off. Works like magic. Baggy 1

Yankee_One Posted June 13, 2018 Posted June 13, 2018 Its nearly 20 years ago when i visited Würzburg. That was when i had to make my military service. I was travelling with train up to Mayen, near Koblenz. Now i am an old man?

SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 I have the same issue. It's inherent to the Saitek device, as can be seen in the software when this issue occurs. The solution to replug the throttle. Move it to an USB controller and have no other device there. The controller must be strong enough and its adaptive energy management must be disabled in windows so it never drops once. Also disable the LEDs on the throttle. A dedicated, powered USB card is optimal if your motherboard's USB 3 slots lack the power. Try a USB 2 controller as well if your board has one (mine was USB 3-only so putting in a 10cm USB 2 extension cable helped).
