kurtj Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 I was at the USAF Museum in Dayton a few weeks ago and ran across this feature of the Douglas A-20... smoke canisters for laying down smokescreens... a future mission profile, perhaps? 2
MarderIV Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 That's pretty interesting. Assuming Tank Crew fixes/improves AI spotting, smoke would have a significant utility from the ground operations perspective. But we don't really know what the scope of Tank Crew is and how synergistic the combined arms experience might be. I'd love to have these as real tactical options in the game though. In games like Tank Warfare - Tunisia, playing with smoke screens was incredibly useful. But that required tremendous detail over AI spotting mechanics. If that comes into play in Tank Crew, I bet this mission type and loadout might exist. At least I hope so.
[APAF]VR_Spartan85 Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 This was obviously testing for what is now known from jet liners as ‘Chem-trails’ . lol but yeah, cool concept that they would lay down aerial smoke for the ground .... I suppose when arty smoke shells weren’t available

Yeah - I saw one last week that cut in and out like a dashed/dotted line 5 or 6 times before resuming it's normal continuous streak. Pretty interesting 'contrail' that was.

[APAF]VR_Spartan85 Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Their smoke screens are a little high i wonder if it would even be possible to have smoke immiters from an aircraft in game to produce coverage long enough over a distance....
