Omfg...so smooth, so detailed, so realistic.

Just tried a quick flight and even with all the smoke and shells I had super smooth fps even when flying at ultra low level between buildings.

Frigging awesome guys, this is just getting better and better...^^

I hope there will be a printable file of the map. As there has been for the testing area.

Hi, can you please post a picture, I'm at the office right now and can't play until I get home.

Thanks in advance

Very impressed guys, smooth 60fps at Ultra ( at both Low and High altitudes) with the full map and unlimited range on objects. If things keep going like this i don't think i'll fly anything else for a while once we get some more aircraft and multiplayer active.

Bf 109 cockpit has been worked on and upgraded :salute:

Tested on balanced and ultra, SSAO "muddy goggles" effect is totally gone now, for me, on those settings. I hope people give it a chance.

Some effect has been added to the collimator reticle.

The SSAO "smear" is there even on Ultra, but not as visible as before. It can be seen as before on High. On Balanced it is gone altogether. But game ran smooth even on Ultra :)

Not had a chance to try it out properly, but a couple of screenshots...

Very impressed performance wise. Good FPS and no stutters with Ultra/Full AA/Gamma on the Unlimited Object map. Cockpits seem better also. Thanks Devs !

Was it ok for you last week?

Everything was reset, so did you go full screen/ high setting etc.?

Maybe try a reboot/ check drivers

It is very bad indeed!  I don't know what to say, it is so bad I don't want to take part this week.

My native screen resolution is 1920x1200, but the game does not let me run it at this resolution.  The graphics are just a fuzzy mess for me.  Am I missing something?

This is very disappointing :((

Yes Talisman, I run the same resolution fine. I had to reset all the graphics including full screen and the resolution - then restart the game

If you're around first thing tomorrow ~9am we can talk through it on TS if you still have a problem.

For me the game runs ok but there are some issues...most noticable is the pop-up graphics of the fences surrounding the farms in the villages..

I'm running on ultra with full scenery...16 GB ram...but still the drawdistance for these fences are VERY short wich gives a disapointing pop-up effect...

Same applies to static planes, some trees etc. regarding the drawing distance. They appear only very close to the plane.

I'm running it on high and don't have any pop-up for the fences. It looks marvellous to me: Stalingrad is a work of art. The huge smoke columns are very impressive. Only graphical glitch for me is that those columns sometimes go faint for a second or two and then come back. Fantastic update all in all.

I still have the "muddy goggles" SSAO   :(     ... and I can´t switch it off anymore - it has gone from the startup.cfg

The map looks rather unfinished still, but what is there looks absolutely stunning and it runs amazingly on ultra with full objects.

Map runs smooth here no problem, graphic card set to 100% performance.

I think we can have more objects and bigger smoke columns.

Runs quite well for me at 2560x1440 and "High".  Some framerate drop over urban areas equivilant to what I experience over Lille in RoF.  I love the environmental explosions and the large oily smoke columns.  Both are nicely done with minimal bogging even when flying through the effect.  I occasionally get a rapid vibration of the full-screen map (airplane setup screen).  Nothing I do makes it stop other than starting the mission.  I also sometimes get a slideshow when I F2 my own wreck.  This might be due to the AI friendly circling the field laughing at my feebleness.  I seem to very consistantly shoot off my enemy's right horizontal stab.

OK, my bad, all working very good now on ultra :))  Thanks for your reply.  Deleted my original post.

After playing a bit more I notice that the game crashes almost every time I am in a prolonged fight. Seems to happen when I get near an enemy plane. Just a basic crash to desktop.

109 cockpit has not been upgraded.

SSAO NEEDS to be deactivate as option devs please. It's not looking good here, and don't have cristal clear picture anymore.

Running on Ultra with AAX8 (like in ROF) i get some annoying stutters from time to time (not in ROF)

At first, was surprised by the small size of Stalingrad city...thought it was bigger. But might be wrong thought.

Smoke are quite nice, but maybe they could add some kind of dust dark cloud over the city (like the no man's land dust cloud in ROF, but not brownish)

To the bug report forum you go. This sounds like it could be serious.

I haven't experienced either CTDs or even significant frame rate drop, though I must admit I only got around to down a single 109 tonight, and that wasn't exactly a 'prolonged fight'.

Resolution 2560x1440 might become a problem, I do not think this is the ideal gaming resolution. I've seen benchmarks with 30% less FPS in comparison with 1920x1080. It seems that quality improvement does not justify the drop in FPS.

Had one crash also but just flying alone about 4k high.  The crash came right after I was trying to switch to F2 view.  F2 view only gave me a black screen.  After several times switching back a forth game crashed to desktop.  I also have the prebattle map vibration like others have stated.  I sure do like the ultra graphics though.

Stalingrad had a population of 400.000 in August 1942. The map we see is during the start of operation Uranus 19 November 1942.

I've just got to say, I love the map, the feel of the place. I've gotta gush!

The accuracy of the geography is outstanding! I can easily find many of the landmarks I've read about (and seen in movies of greater or lesser quality). And until now, I've never really been able to visualize it - the terrain, I mean. So the high embankment on the western bank, the deep gullies that the Russians used for supply lines adn that the Germans never fully cleared, even Mamlev Kergan (excuse the spelling - I'm too tired to check): I can see how they slotted together. Mamlev Kergan seems a lot flatter than I saw it in my minds eye, at least from the air. But if you come in low, you can see how it did indeed command the northern half of the city. And the grain elevator and station! (I couldn't fly under the gantries across the tracks

I almost feel that I wouldn't get lost if I went there.

Many thanks! That map more than exceeds my hopes (especially after the treatment my poor native London has received at the hands of a different sim.(

(By the way, I love the approach to loading objects - the gentle graceful fade-in. Maybe I'll miss 1946's "urban ripple" effects!)

It is normal to need more power when going to 2560x1440 from 1920x1080.  At 1080p you have just over two million pixels on the screen and at 2560x1440 you have almost 3.7 million pixels. The difference in screen real estate is huge!!!! ....and it's very noticeable in the game.

On a smaller screen 1440p hurts more than helps, but at anything over 25 inches the pixels are just too big at 1080p.

I went from 1080p to 1440p and I had to change graphics card. It's normal, but the reward in looks is worth every penny.

Yeah - they look tempting from a distance, but as you get close you realise there are tree stumps in the way.

Performance is good at ultra settings, but I still have the "muddy goggles" with ssao.

I also have lot of out of memory errors and i have to make recovery before every mission.

Sorry, I can't edit my post with this screenshot. Here's the difference in screen real estate between 1080p and 1440p:

Same here. Ultra still gets the muddy goggles.

What else can I add. As a software developper I'm almost shock with the results. Good job Il2 team :)

Regarding pixel count: yep I'm very aware of the limitations. It's native and can't be helped.

Sorry. My post was directed to Benz, I just managed to miss what I was trying to say.  I meant, that since you have a 2560x1440 monitor, you are well aware of the computing power it needs.

English as second language and a mini keg of heineken....... :drink2:

Sadly also in high settings.

SSAO is a no go for me, and a big step backward.

More noticeable in the Lagg cockpit, for some reason...
