Engine Boost - Newbie Question

Hello All,

I hope I have posted this query in the right place, forgive me if it has been covered before or is in a manual I haven't read yet. As a relative newcomer to the game, I notice there is an "Engine Boost on/off" feature in Key Mapping, (Lshift+B default) what aircraft does this apply to? 

 

So far I have adjusted Prop RPM and fuel mixtures to increase performance, but I don't seem to be able to work out this Boost Feature.

You have boost in i.e. La-5, I-16-24, Spitfire Mk.V, FW-190F-3, MC.202  but most planes didn't have special "boost/forsazh" etc. button and max power is available through max throttle position.

In MiG-3 you use max power by manual full rich mixture.
