I appreciate the P-40E-1 too!

Talking about it's shape, my all time favorite has always been the early K model with it's rounded vertical fin and short tail.

The K also have  Allison engine V-1710-73 with automatic boost control .

True!

I hope the K model will be one day included in the Great Battle Series ?

Hoping for P-40C, K and F/L as well.

And P-40M the most.

Osprey published a book, P-40 Warhawk vs. 109, which covers the Mediterranean conflict but also highlights the differences of the airframes and how that relates to combat in the east(and BoX). The overall gist from what I read was that P-40 pilots were quite aware that they were both slower and possessed a lower performance ceiling compared to the 109, and they mitigated these problems by spotting the 109s first, and then flying into the teeth of enemy formations as they dived on them. Work to get them into the dogfight where they could out-turn and out-gun the enemy.

Not exactly tactics for the faint-hearted, but I imagine a skilled flight of 4 P-40s with a real grasp of leader/wingman tactics can even the score. But since most folks are kind of Lone Wolf-ing it....

I'm currently flying the P-40 in my career and I have to say it's growing on me. I'm not sure if it's because I'm just getting used to the engine modeling or what but I rarley blow my engine now, and it seems I can push it more than I used to be able to.
