Problems with Bodenplatte Purchase

As soon as the Battle of Bodenplatte became available, I pre-purchased it via the Il2Sturmovik.com store.  All went well: my phone buzzed with an SMS message from my bank that my credit card had been debited, and an emailed receipt for $69.99 arrived in my inbox.

 

I then settled down to wait for the first planes to be available, looking forward in particular to the Spitfire IX, which my dad had flown in Normandy for 308 (Polish) squadron (albeit with a ‘c’ and not the ‘e’ wing), missing Bodenplatte by two months because his 1 year combat tour of duty had finished at the start of November 1944.

 

So it was with quite some anticipation I opened up IL-2 once the announcement of the two new Bodenplatte aircraft had been made.  However – NO Spitfire IX or Messerschmitt Bf-109G.

I immediately went to my profile to check Purchases, and sure enough, my purchase from 2.5 months earlier had not been recognized, though of course my credit card had been debited.

 

No problem – just open a ticket and attach my 777 Studios receipt (with all the company’s own data – transaction ID,  Auth. Code etc. etc.)  I expected an instant response, plus perhaps an apology, and a code to help myself to a Collector Planes for free for the inconvenience.

 

In my dreams! 

 

It’s been a week now, and no progress.  I had to resubmit my ticket (I think 1CG lost it) and the response I currently have is “Your situation is caused by the fact that we have not received from the operator.”  Operator?  I made my purchase at IL-2 Sturmovik’s only shopfront.  I sent you a copy of the receipt YOU generated and sent to me.

 

And no hint of an apology, as if it’s somehow my fault.

 

Just because ICGS/777 Studios models Soviet-era aircraft, doesn’t mean that they have to duplicate the Soviet-era shopping experience as well:  a long wait followed by gruff, impolite service, with no apologies for any screw-ups.

 

I purchase lots of software online.  I’ve never experienced anything like this before.
