This video, 0:31, shows an optical indicator for the water radiator, I have never seen this before, did this exist on all 109s? Do we have it in BoS?

Would be nice to know what position the rad flaps are.

This should be added.

...if it was a feature of later models, yes.

I was wondering about that ... but the CloD 109 is an E, earlier than our F4, and a quick goggle shows that both E and G types certainly had the indicator rods.

This would be a welcome detail.

I'd find it odd if it was present on F or G - it was done on the E because there was only one cooling flap, below the wing, invisible to the pilot. On F & G the different cooling flap arrangement allowed to directly see the flap position - there was no wing in between the cooling flap and the pilots eye where you'd need to (and could) stick an indicator through. I've also not seen this in the technical documentation or on any photos.

If a quick google shows this to have been present on the G, could you please share the link?

I simply noticed that in the section titled "Condition of the machine" from this test report that "radiator indicator staffs" are mentioned.

I make no claims, however, to be any kind of aviation expert so this may not refer to the same thing the OP is talking about or even be a mistranslation so I retract my earlier statement and blame it on inadequate early coffee intake.

Interesting find. I'd figure that that was done for the testing only, but it is interesting nonetheless.
