Blitzen Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 We’ve seen screenings of the new map leading me to ask this question now that we have the first. Two planes for the newest version of the sim ; when will we see the map? I wish I could remember when Moscow & Kuban maps were introduced for us to play on, but alas I can’t .Does anyone remember about when we saw those maps during the development of the Moscow & Kuban versions of the same? I’m just asking....
Gambit21 Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 They said it will be a while - Tank Crew and Flying Circius maps have to be done as well
Herne Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 (edited) Dev's used a new technique with these maps to speed up the process. If I understand it right then it only really helps with the geographical features and height maps. So an enormous amount of work remains to do the cities, towns, maybe some villages or other landmarks over a huge area. I have no idea how long it will take them to do all this work for the maps across all seasons. If I were a betting man though my money would be on next year at the earliest. 1CGS BlackSix Posted May 29, 2018 1CGS Posted May 29, 2018 This is the biggest our map we've ever made. Don't wait for it very soon. 3 2

Blitzen Posted May 29, 2018 Author Posted May 29, 2018 Thanks guys, I will stop holding my breath(...only kidding.....?)
catchthefoxes Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 but which map will come out first? BoBP map or Flying circus map?
Godspeed Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 I think i saw something about Karelia Finland map being developed. Is it real or have i been dreaming?

As Blitzen said, I'm not holding my breath but I do think most of us are very excited about this next installment. The quality shown so far in screen shots is incredible. If the coming BoBP doesn't cause a huge influx of western fliers, I don't know what will.

Missionbug Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 The map is huge and I know from personal experience it takes a long time, making and placing the buildings, equip each airfield, all the testing, might be the last part of the project to be released. That said, maybe they could do a early version with only a few airfields active and minimal object placement so we could at least see the area involved and get some idea of what the final would look like. It is very strange having the aircraft first, nowhere really to play with them until the map is available except QMB. Anyway, it is what it is I guess. Wishing you all the very best, Pete.

Karelia map talk only exists in two or three comments in the cancelled Murmansk map thread back in 2015/2016. Odessa map updates stopped since July 2017. Despite questions about the progress no news since then. Hopefully I'm wrong but I don't see anything being released in the near future concerning 3rd party works.
