Need more data:

- Let us know your RAM speed. You can know that by running the CPU-Z free tool. Going to Memory tab and multipling by two the "DRAM Frequency" number.

- Also we need to know if you do Overclocking in the CPU, can you reach 4.4 or 4.6 GHz?

- What CPU cooling do you have?

- Do you have 3 USB 3.0 ports? Have you run the Oculus compatibility check? (https://ocul.us/compat-tool )

I can advance you that your CPU is quite good for IL-2 VR (same than mine ) , it allows good Overclocking.

The weak point could be the 970. We only have a couple of tests with the 970 in our test tables, but they were not overcloking the system.

You could need to reduce the settings a bit (BALANCED) and use a very moderate SuperSampling (130% maybe).

But if the 970 is not enough you can always upgrade only the GPU and then you will have a top rig.

Yes it will be playable.

I too suggest you download and run the Oculus Compatibility Checker to see if you have any problematic areas, like on the USB 3 ports.

yes, its playable - medium settings, no aa or other fancy stuff, dynamic resolution at 0,5 and you should can expect 90fps most of the time.

I would expect 45 fps with such a system unless at the absolute lowest detail setting. That said, 45 fps is playable.

I have a gtx970 slightly OC, i5 4690k @4,4ghz, 8GB ram, SSD,Win7 -  blanced settings, no AA or SS, 0.5 dynamic resolution.

90fps most of the time (SP, 4vs4, PWCG), campaign had more dips, but more because of CPU than GPU

That said, dogfights and flying are very enjoyable, if one can live with the drawbacks of said settings.

Give it a try, if you dont like it, upgrade your GPU. The rest of your System is good enogh, especially if you OC your CPU

0.5 dynamic resolution means you're playing at roughly 240p. I simply cannot recommend such potato graphics settings to anyone. If you like it fine that way, good for you. But I seriously doubt many would be satisfied like that. I assume anyone using a Rift is going to disable dynamic scaling and run the headset at no less than 1.0 PD. With those settings, I can see medium detail giving a reasonably locked 45 fps with his system. It's not ideal, but neither is my experience with an i7-8700k and GTX 1080 Ti.

you are right, but you only play at that low resolution 0,2% of the time, when diving through heavy smoke 15m behind an desintegrating opponent. Rest of the time, normal flying and dogfighting looks good enough to enjoy it and to be completly immersed.

That said, i had the opportunity to swap my 970 for a 1080, expecting similar fps but with full dynamic resolution, rest of the settings same as before.

1080 barely managed to hold 90fps, head room about 10-15% in a low action scenario. I was pretty disappointed, to be honest, this game is indeed very HW demanding.

sold the 1080, waiting for future GPU with more potential or further VR improvements on Il2 side.

Ram Frequency has almost zero impact in this case from 1333mhz to 2800mhz
