seafireliv Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 (edited) "Just one artillery and one truck?" I cried in surprise, kicking snow off my boots. The officer stared back from his desk with a jaded look on his face, his thick rim glasses, with a crack in the left lens, pressing on his big pointy nose and slipping slightly towards his bushy moustache as he looked over the reports of our just completed mission... "Da! One artillery piece and one truck." "But it looked like a lot more than that and I dropped the bomb right in the middle of it all!" I protested, shaking my flight helmet in a frustrated manner. It had been a very long flight there and back through heavy cloud. "What it may look like to you, is not what it was in reality.." replied the sitting figure, "Maybe you should have used up the ammunition you have still in your guns and finished off the remaining artillery and trucks nearby?" "Well, it was behind the enemy lines and I didn`t want to hang around in case the enemy 109s showed up and I got shot down and captured..." I replied quietly and stupidly honestly. The officer looked up, over his glasses, like a Headmaster in a school checking a naughty pupil`s exams results, "Do you want to fight for your Motherland or be a coward, Comrade?" "Fight for the Motherland of course! I`m no coward!" "Then I suggest next time you empty all your guns before returning... Da?" I walked away sheepishly. A recent mission I just had. Lensman Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 Vehicle convoy attack: Twice my aircraft was attacking whilst all the other aircraft in my group were circling some distance away Twice MY guns exploderated a vehicle resulting in two destroyed vehicles. Mission result: one vehicle.
PatrickAWlson Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 Interesting, because when I look at the mission logs I have always felt that credit for ground targets destroyed was quite accurate
unreasonable Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 I wonder how the officer knew that the result was one truck and one gun?
