1CGS LukeFF Posted May 25, 2018 1CGS Posted May 25, 2018 Some photos I took at this year's airshow, which is just a 5-minute drive from my house. Missed the Canadian CF-18 demo team on Saturday, but we certainly heard them flying over our house. 1 2 5
NETSCAPE Posted May 25, 2018 Posted May 25, 2018 Cool! I'd love to go to something like this but the heat would kill me!

Lol, it was actually very nice weather all weekend for the show - mid-70s and a mild breeze. I didn't even need to put on sunscreen, which says a lot for me. ? 1
TheBlackPenguin Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 (edited) Wish I knew beforehand :). Nevertheless, thanks for sharing the photo's. Edited May 26, 2018 by TheBlackPenguin
1CGS LukeFF Posted May 26, 2018 Author 1CGS Posted May 26, 2018 My pleasure, all! The story behind that Hellcat is pretty crazy: https://www.cafsocal.com/our-aircrafts/our-aircraft-and-history/gruman-f6f-hellcat/ 1
angus26 Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 Did they let you get a look inside the b-25? Always have loved that bird, we have one down in San Marcos, TX, (CAF) and they occasionally will give tours of it. I believe they do rides on it, but it costs the big bucks.

I don't recall them having tours of the B-25, though I was able to get a really good look at the nose area. One of the C-47s was available for interior tours.

Yeah, touring the aircrafts is a very neat experience and you learn a lot about the ins and outs of the inside, for instance, the little “tunnel” you crawl through in that b-25 nose is tiny, and it’s just all around a cramped aircraft for me. Also being 6’3” makes it quite a struggle to navigate nearly any ww2 bomber I’ve been in. The only aircraft I can actually be comfortable in was the b-24, it’s an incredibly spacious aircraft inside.
Gambit21 Posted May 27, 2018 Posted May 27, 2018 Nice Luke. Love the whistle of the Hellcat as it flies by.
Hoss Posted May 28, 2018 Posted May 28, 2018 If the gun ports are sealed you won't hear the whistle, same on the Mustang. It's just like blowing into a beer bottle...................... some people think it's a supercharger sound..... Cheers Hoss 1
Gambit21 Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 Thanks Hoss - I was wondering what caused the whistle.
