D_Konig Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 Started a new career in VR (YAY) and I have to say it adds a whole new level to this game I didn't realize was there. Totally worth it - although it took me 3 days and almost 19 hours to get it working properly lol I'm having a blast. I just bought BoM and started a career there. 2 questions: One, can I carry this career on into Battle of Stalingrad if my pilot survives BoM and two - during the BoM and BoS career/campaigns, are there any squadrons that use the FW190 or is it all 109s all the time ? I'm doing a fighter career obviously lol Thanks guys
hames123 Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 You can carry over. The challenge is surviving on ironman from BOM to BOBP. After all, by the time you get one to live until the end of BOK BOBP will be out. 1
Yogiflight Posted May 20, 2018 Posted May 20, 2018 In Battle of Stalingrad the I./JG51 uses the FW190 A3 from the second to the seventh of eight phases, flying from Pitomnik. 1

I currently made bomber pilot campaign and I'm actually playing as a gunner exclusively since I currently don't have a joystick. So far - so good, I've been downed only once on the final landing approach MiG managed to shot up my engine so I calmly bailed out from around 400m to prevent some kind of stupid death during landing. I'm beginning to think that I actually may live longer as a bomber crew member than I would in fighter pilot career.
seafireliv Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 If you get injured then you`ll get something like a month or 2 recuperation which can be a nice way to jump to the next Campaign, which happened to me.
dkoor Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 That's nice too, one more cool similarity with RoF career .

Lucky you, I got wounded and I got three days in the hospital, and I got hit bad too, on fire and bailed out right behind the lines and barely made it back.
RavN_Alienzo Posted May 22, 2018 Posted May 22, 2018 Leutnant Mario Schmeterrling. 48 sorties, 23 kills and he died in Sovier prisson just beacause I mistake the airfields and I landed on the enemy base :/ Ironmode is hell... :D 1

Haha i made it 20 missions before the Rus put an end to me. Had to bail on fire, 2km from German lines. Captured! I was mad, what kind of man cant hoof it 2km in the dark to friendly lines?! Weak, he deserved to be captured lol Do you ALWAYS get captured if you land in enemy territory?
seafireliv Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 It seems like the further you fall behind enemy lines the greater the chances of being captured, although I have not personally confirmed it yet.

Hmm ive only had it happen twice , captured both times. Both were only a km or 2 from german lines. I assume ill get more chances to test that theory soon haha

I think landing in enemy territory is always a capture. My story there I was talking about was landing just within friendly territory (but basically right on the front lines.)

Im not familiar with exactly how common it was or anything (I was an army guy, air force is fantasy land to me lol) or how unusual it would be to land behind enemy lines and get away. If it were me id just try and hide and wait for the advance to catch up, or wait for dark and make a run for it but it would be tough to get through enemy lines at that time now that I think about it. Id like to see it as a % modifier, the closer you bail to friendly lines the better the odds you escape. Would at least motivate you a bit to get as close as possible lol but 10km into enemy territory should be like a 5% chance. Im sure they would radio ahead and have a crew dispatched to capture you maybe even before you hit the ground in some cases. What a high risk job, jesus

If you want a real challange, try to become a german ace, since that guys start with something about 60 kills from the begging lol
D_Konig Posted May 24, 2018 Author Posted May 24, 2018 Yah I've been still learning the 109 and 190s for the last while lol once I get bored (if ever) I'll probly try and learn the yak or one of the other Russian fighters, or maybe the P40 or something. VR is just so much more fun
TheSNAFU Posted June 17, 2018 Posted June 17, 2018 I'm playing the career for the first time of any substance. I started in August 42, flew a bunch of missions then got wounded (playing iron man) and finally my squadron JG52 was removed from combat until November. I have flown several more missions since returning to the front. In the pilot stats I don't find anywhere that tells me how many total missions I've flown in the career. Is that present anywhere?

Yes, it is in the statistics of your squadron.

In the chart, at the far right, there's a column for 'successful sorties' and 'unsuccessful sorties'. Add the two together and you get the total.

What a high risk job, jesus Agreed, there should definitely be some sort of to evade capture the closer you are to friendly lines. I just lost one of my best pilots because a friendly aircraft collided with me and I crash landed behind enemy lines, I was only about 1km or less from my lines and I had a pretty clear shot but I still got captured. TheSNAFU Posted June 17, 2018 Posted June 17, 2018 Thanks Yogi and Red. Appreciate the fast answers. I'll have look.

hames123 Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 I suppose the Russians send out a patrol when they see the parachute slowly falling to earth. Then it is off to Siberia. Could be worse, I don't know if AA still chutekills but it should, that was always a fun thing to watch.
