CoD - Blitz doesn't start

Hi everybody. After a couple of years without playing CoD I have downloaded the last BLITZ update (I followed all the instructions in the beginner's guide), and I found a strange issue. I could start it for a few times then, while I was going in and out trying to set my separate HOTAS (Joystick Thrustmaster T16000 + Throttle Saitek X52), suddenly the game couldn't start anymore: the CoD icon appears in the application bar but I still see my windows theme and no mouse pointer. To get back the pointer I must open the task manager (where no CoD activity is reported) and then close the manager. But if I left-click on CoD icon in the application bar, the pointer disappears again. The only way to remove the CoD icon from the application bar is restarting the PC, and during the turn-off procedure I get the message that CoD is running and will be closed. Any clue for that?

Hello Mercast

If you haven't played the game for two years, there are a lot of changes.

Are you playing 'IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover', or 'IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover - Blitz'?

Did you install the 'Blitz' edition?

These are two separate games, two different listings in Steam.  'Blitz' is a free upgrade for those who own the original game or the TF modded game.  This is what everyone is playing.

There is also a free 'Beta' on Steam for the original game, which you can select if you want... this is basically TF 4.312... but does not include the extra 7 aircraft included in 'Blitz'.

I would recommend you install 'Blitz'...  when you launch Steam you should see it listed in your game's directory... but it will need to be installed.

BEFORE YOU INSTALL

Both games use the same user profile folder in 'Documents/1C SoftClub/IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover/'.  If you install Blitz before changing this, you may have a problem.

First thing you need to do is rename the existing folder IL-2 folder you have in the above directory... call it 'IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover1' or something different.

Then install the 'Blitz' edition
