Got myself some MFG Crosswinds awhile back and very happy with them... however I have come across a small problem.

When I turn on my pc with the Crosswinds plugged in, the pc starts to run but then will not advance to the windows loading screen.

If I remove the crosswinds, the pc will then continue with the loading sequence as normal.

I have tried moving them to another USB port but the same thing happens.

Can anyone who is pc savvy give me some hints on how to cure this... any help will be much appreciated

That is very strange.

So they have been working fine and then suddenly this?

What has changed lately, anything?

I do not have this problem. I think your best course of action is mailing Milan himself.

Hope you can fix it.

What happens if you boot the pc with the pedals not plugged in, then plug them in when you get to Windows desktop?

They have done this since I installed them.

The pc will load as normal when the pedals are not plugged in... and the pedals work as normal when I plug them in as I need them.

I have this problem.  I have to unplug the USB hub before starting the pc otherwise it freezes before loading windows. I thought it was the hub itself didn't realise it was the mfgs. Strange would like a fix bur I hear it is not good to keep hotas and pedals and such plugged in and under power all the time so I do not mind unpluggingthem after use.

Trooper, are you using a USB hub?  Mine work just fine but are plugged into a direct USB port, I have a total of 8 USB ports on my machine and all are used.

See if plugging in USB 2.0 vs 3.0 makes any difference.

In general it sounds like there is some defect, I havent had this issue at all.

i have this issue!!!!!!!!!!!!! finally i found another person with it. So it is probably a windows 10 thing recognizing joysticks and rudder pedals as keyboards, according to windows 10 i have 11 keyboards and 3 mice plugged in. But the mfg crosswind pedals were not my problem, my Thrustmaster Warthog stick and throttle seemed to keep windows from booting. If you notice the debug codes your MB puts out it will tell you whether or not your pc has handed itself over to windows 10 to complete the booting process. Mine would always fail when it was passed over to windows 10. It comes from to many devices being plugged in at one time. BUT.....i do not have 11 keyboards and 3 mice plugged in...let alone that many usb ports occupied.

The Fix....i wish i knew. When it fails to post i unplug the joystick and throttle combo and it will boot no problem and go away until it randomly comes back.

Do y'all have the drivers for your peripherals installed? They're all plug and play but just wondering if you have the drivers. Yeah you probably do. Ignore me.

This is all really weird.

I have my Crosswinds plugged into USB 2.0 port on my motherboard.

Have my Virpil stick, Warthog Throttle plugged into a powered USB 2.0 Hub. Also have a CH Throttle Quadrant plugged in.

They are all showing with proper identifications in Windows 10 devices and printers menu.

They always stay plugged in with no issue.

Check in Device Manager and see if you have any USB Controllers listed with an exclamation mark, or anything listed under an " Other Devices" category.

Sometimes if Windows finds hardware it can't identify it will throw that category up and list it there.

i do have all my drivers and firmware up to date. its just a windows 10 thing that some people have, if you use a USB hub to plug devices in it thinks they are mice and keyboards i guess. kinda funny looking when you look in device manager. havent had this issue for over 6 months now, just went away

This is the notorious USB Legacy Devices issue. This has little to do with support for old USB devices, it's merely USB emulation before Windows boots properly.

If you disable this in your BIOS (somewhere in Advanced Setup or similar), it will probably boot just fine. Else you could use a USB hub, which accomplishes the same thing by not being recognised by Windows until it fully boots.

Interesting but all my kit goes through a USB hub and I still have this problem. I will look in bios for a fix.

BUT please don't keep all of your very expensive HOTAS and pedals .... plugged into the USB and under power as I have known it to cause damage( esp this is a known problem for HOTAS Warthog as it causes bricking).

Turn off ur PC at the power supply or unplug the USB to make sure they last a long time.

I have my devices plugged into a powered USB hub for years. Never had anything bad happen, the Crosswind pedals are plugged in for atleast 4 years. My Warthog set was plugged in for several years aswell, until I changed it for something else. My USB hub wasn't a cheap one though.

Never had this issue. My crosswinds are plugged in permanently in a usb 2.0 port, as is my GVL throttle. My Rift is in a usb 3 port. My Virpil stick gets plugged in after booting up, as otherwise it doesn't work in game.

Are these v2 Crosswinds?  I received one of the first of v2 units in March 2015.

Just throwing this out there, might not be the cause,  as a lot of you seem to have the issue but try removing USB from boot priority list, edit* just saw someone suggested that

I fixed it with a re install of windows 10 about 6 months ago. Has never happened since but that could just be random luck.

In BIOS try to remove USB from boot up priority list and turn off USB wake up or sleep function.

Also would be worth a try to disable (via device manager) for all your USB ports the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". It's an option under Properties--> Power management

Agree that is a must. Anytime I get a major Windows 10 update like 1803 it always resets those settings, I have to go back into each one individually and disable the power management on them.
