Ai wingman shoulder shooting me down

Hey, heeeeeeeeyyyyy!!!!!

ok I’m lovin the career.  But, as most people will mention, Ai don’t seem to care for your safety if you are in pursuit of enemy aircraft.  They will shoulder shoot, collide with you, over take, or just shoot through you...

many times I’ve had this happen.  Tailing a 109 and my yak counterparts join the chase and shoot up my wing and canopy.... I still get the kill though cause I’m thorough and a better shot...

then I rtb, grease the landing, and it was a forced landing...

Anyone have a work around to working with ai wingman?  And if I get shot down by ai wingman, bail, and survive, do they get executed?

just venting.. . I can’t wait till next updates?

I too have to add that Multiplayer is often just as bad, which is worse since they have a lot more than just a cpu and memory to use! Like being a bit more watchful around them. In fact, I sometimes think some Online guys see other guys the same as AI!

But on that I`ve had AI shoulder shoot me, but I have never yet collided with any friendly even when they seemed too close for comfort. Are you sure some of the fault is not your own? Are you being as watchful as you should be, or is it, as with most cases with people and AI, you just assume the AI needs to watch out and not you yourself?

After many hours in the Career Mode, yes I have certainly been witness to some AI shoulder shooting - guess I have been lucky so far in that I have not been downed by one of my own yet.

However if it gets too busy with the shoulder shooting I will typically peel off and let the wingman try and down the enemy and if he does not , then I make another run at him.

That`s exactly what I do. Let the AI have it. I do the same when I`ve flown online and some idiot starts shoulder shooting behind me.

Not rocket science is it... if the AI are a problem for you, just let them get on with it.

If they overshoot or miss you will be waiting above them to finish the job...

In multiplayer I’ve witnessed shoulder shooting as well, but only recently I’ve been downed by a friendly ....

in SP I was flying in I-16 and ai wingman took my vertical stab clean off with its propeller... I was in pursuit of enemy, straight and level, then stress noise, then I see bottom of ai as it was OVER TAKInG me.. then unrecoverable soon.. bail..

Ai plane was fine

My technique may be a little nuanced compared to dburne, seafireliv, and Trooper117. I always...always...always let the AI wingmen pick their targets and allow them to engage before me. Oh I might blow through a formation at high speed to try for a quick kill, but then arc around or above the fight looking to see if the AI has engaged. If not, I either repeat my slashing attack or attack a bandit that is isolated.

I've watched enough TacView ACMI files and read enough PWCG mission debriefs to know fratricide is very common (along with fatal collisions). The guilty AI is never punished.

I'd just like my p40 comrades to engage the 109s shooting at them, rather than strafing the ground targets.

Wow you don't ask much of them do ya ?

Bwaha!
