II./JG27_Rich Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Those Russian fighters. Look at his last landing in the Yak 3
DD_bongodriver Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Just bear in mind wheeler landings leave little clearance between prop tip and ground, they use up more runway because it requires a touch of extra speed, you don't really have the option to apply brakes while in the wheeler attitude, certain aircraft are strictly recommended not to use the wheeler technique.
Sternjaeger Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 AFAIK the Yak is quite docile on landing, he balooned on his first attempt because he was just too fast, and perhaps needed a bit less flap.. you really need to know what you're doing when doing a wheeler landing with a taildragger, or as bongo says you're gonna end up striking the ground with the prop or worse..
Pudfark Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Very much enjoyed this. Gonna repost it on my squad forums. It's amazing watching the "rudder authority" of take off and how much was necessary from the torque of the engines. Seems the P-40 has to use a lot more than the others? The Yak sure was landed "hot". Thank You Much.
Finkeren Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 The MiG-3 I've seen in flight also lands two-point, as does the I-16 in most vids I've seen.
II./JG27_Rich Posted January 17, 2014 Author Posted January 17, 2014 The way I like to land that Lagg is like the Yaks last landing
unreasonable Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 My Lagg landings are more like the first one
