Just discovered this on Amazon Prime https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3563130/ . Anyone else watching it? Special effects are a bit rudimentary and the story is a bit 'cheesy', entertaining all the same.

I watched some of it a while ago and thought it was entertaining for what it is. Reminded me a lot of The Dawns here are Quiet, if you are looking for something similar but with AA gunners rather than pilots.

Saw it a while ago, and I loved it. Definitely one of the better russian series I've seen in quite a while.

 

What I particularly enjoyed, and which is quite frankly pretty rare in the "genre", is how nuanced it was. There's a lot more depth than there seems to be at first. Good stuff.

No it’s not “realistic” in pretty much any aspect, but it’s entertaining, even moving, and has memorable, loveable characters that you hate to see die, which is pretty much the most importantaspect of any war flick.

Also: Don’t miss out on “Night Swallows” made by the same studio. It’s their fictional take on the historical Night Witches/588th regiment.

Already seen that.
