Hi all being fairly new to this sim but loving it immensely I'm asking for a bit of advice.

I currently have BOS and BOM with the collector planes (recently purchased the Mc 202) to complete both series.

I was looking at the Ju52 but is it still true that the only career mode is cargo delivery? If so il probably wait on that to see if more different types of career missions get added.

Is there any more aircraft that's recommended to purchase for my maps or should I just purchase BOK?

As always thanks in advance for any replies..take care guys

Best regards Adger

I haven't actually tried a Ju52 career yet but we know that more mission types are being added in the future (nearish) and I'm betting at least a few of them will feature the other transport roles. We need to drop those paratroopers off somewhere :)

As for aircraft, if you own everything else... the three other Collector Planes (not including the Ju52) are the Yak-1B Series 127, La-5FN Series 2, and Bf109G-6. Those last three are part of the Kuban time period primarily so you're best off picking them up after you purchase Kuban.

What type of missions do you expect? Ju52 was cargo delivery.

No one can recommend any aircraft for you when we dont know what u like. All aircraft are great and you will get recommendations for every available aircraft.

I`d just BOK. BUT... there are some nice aircraft like the LA5 FN which will need to be bought.

As for the JU52, yes there should be more missions as in history it had to do a LOT more than just cargo carrying. Hopefully, the Devs will have more missions for it soon.

I've had far more fun flying the Ju-52 than I ever thought I could - it really is a charming old bird, and the current discount makes it a no-brainer. Otherwise Get the BoK Premium Edition - Spitfires may be a bore (;)) but the rest of the planes (especially the Hs-129B2) are superb and the Kuban map is just gorgeous.

In PWCG I have the Ju52 also doing parachute drops, nighttime parachute drops, and some bombing missions (effectively rolling the bombs out of the plane) as well as cargo delivery.  All of the cargo delivery approaches the frontlines to make life interesting.  So it is possible to spice up Ju52 careers a bit, but inthe end the plane is what it is.  The 52 is fun to fly, especially over nice scenery.

Now that is just blasphemy lol!

I am having an absolute blast flying the Spit in a Kuban Career - many hours in it already.

Thanks guys..Pat I totally forgot about your CG doing different missions other than cargo delivery. Thanks for the reminder . :good:.

I enjoy flying most of the birds I've tried so far. I was just thinking the JU52 may just offer me something a bit different from time to time.

Again cheers everyone

I don't fly it because the engine bind order means I have to change a load I'd stuff each time. If they just swapped 2 and 3 around it would be fine.

I don't get how its a problem. you can choose what controls you want and bind 2 engines to one throttle. Engines 1 and 3 on one throttle, engine 2 on the other. Brakes cut 1 or 3 if I choose for ground handling. You could always set up your regular controls copy and save em then do the ju52 version and swap em out quickly using OvGME too.

I'm clearly missing something specific to you though so forgive me if this doesn't apply.

My only problem with the way the controllers work in BOS is if you dare take out any of them for any reason, you`ll have to reconfigure the controls all over again. Elite\Dangerous (as an example) will still remember everything, even if you stick the controllers into different ports.

I should say buy everything You can afford to buy!

Why? Easy, to support the peoples how make this great game(s) and never forget they need the money to continue to make this game(s).

:salute:

BOK is the last out in the production line, so it is the most beautifull with the most realistic planes.

But BOBp is the future with a big map (for western Europe) and many new planes never seen since IL2 1946.

I save the "imput" folder and reinstall it if I have problems. :salute:

The Spitfire is 100% dope - zero disappoint. Kind of a noob-plane, if you ask me, but tricky aiming them Hispanos and low ammo count still produce some challenge, which cannot be said about flying this kite and that's why it gets my full Seal of a Grumpy Dude's Approval. Other than that, you already have the Mig-3, which is basically a Hot Rod with wings and can pack dual .50 cals, so you are basically covered in the Balls of Steel department.

Besides that, I cannot say much. In the bomber department, my crate of choice is any Peshka with 2x250 bomb setup, which I fly like the F-16. Plot course, race to target, drop ya crap and get the hell outta Dodge, before the posse shows up. So much for interesting USSR planes. On them Kraut-side, you got 109s and 110s.

The Junkers is basically what it says it is - a boiler heater. Kind of a neat thing, kind of boring. Whatever man, I bought it at some point just to complete my collection and support the devs (cause Jason and his posse have been acting like some serious hombres for a long time now - you gotta respect that). I flew it a bit, not bad really, a novel experience and all, but you ain't gonna get anyone turning their head when pass them by in this crate. Definitely not a ride of choice, if you gonna pick up some senoritas.

On a serious note, the Spit is definitely worth the penny. The experience is kind of sublime when flying and the damn thing is a serious threat in a dogfight.

I agree totally mate,I'm very impressed with the way this series seems to be heading. A bit of work on the career mode,Ai and the radio comms and I'd personally very happy indeed.

BOK I agree looks beautiful from the videos I've seen. I'm still learning the Stalingrad and Moscow maps atm but it's absolutely on my radar.

BOBP looks incredible and hopefully further down the line a pacific campaign/map will make an appearance.

I think I'm really tempted to purchase the Ju52 just because it's "a bit different" also with Pats CG I can do more than cargo drops.

Decisions decisions .  But many thanks senseispcc and to all others for your advice

Just putting a note in for the Ju 52/3m.

Definitely not perfect.... the single-player career for it is currently limited to cargo delivery (something I really hope the Devs address) and there are no points/stats for it in multiplayer (again, something I hope gets attention). On the other hand, this aircraft is something totally different; not just-another-fighter. Payloads are cargo, droppable-supply-canisters and paratroops. It is the only 3-engined aircraft in the game and is as rugged as what is planned for Tank Crew. No, you will not turn heads as you pass them... they will pass you, but their heads will still turn. I get more attention in a Ju 52 than I ever get in a Ju 88 or FW 190. And with all that space in the back, it strikes me as perfect for picking up some Mädels. If you are looking for something genuinely different in BoX, then the Tante Ju is it.

To expand on the Spitfire,   It has extremely effective guns, one hit will probably kill most LW fighters,  but you must shoot at convergence or you are wasting your ammo and it does not have much of that (about 12 seconds of cannon?)   It is also quite slow so will never chase anything down (except maybe a JU52 or Stuka )    Its other strong point, apart from the guns,  is that it is incredibly well behaved at slow speeds.  Technically a 109 can turn slower with its slats etc but the difference is that the 109 will be unstable and twitchy at those speeds while the spitfire  will be rock steady which makes aiming very simple and there will be no nasty stalls etc.

The ultimate VVS fighter is the La-5FN which will out run, out turn & outclimb almost everything below 4000m but it is a plane best flown fast with rolls and few sustained turns.  If you want to dogfight like a spit as well as fly *quite* fast then the Yak-1b is a fantastic all-rounder with the best all round view in the game.   The Yak-7b is close in performance with slightly more firepower but not quite such a good canopy.

It's actually just 6 seconds on the Hispano 20mm on the Mark Vb. With the Spitfire IXe we're getting that gets doubled to 12 seconds. A little more usable.

I find the Yak 7b to be better than the 1b in almost every category; the exception being visibility and even then the 7b has sufficient visibility. I have found that the plane is somewhat more stable than the 1b and while the extra MG doesn't sound like much on paper but when it comes to effect on target it makes a noticeable difference on target. But in terms of maneuverability and speed they are on equal footing.

The 120 rounds for the Hispanos on the Spit is a bit of a bummer, true. But if you use the guns like a 1-2 punch the ammo goes a long way; the MG's help find convergence and lead and the the cannons fired in short bursts take the target down with 2-3 rounds from each cannon.  The 303 MG's can be lethal in their own right as well. You aren't likely to take a wing or tail off with them but they can destroy engines and cause fires with the best of them.

You'll have to wait for support to get back to you. I'm pretty sure their support team is one guy and he doesn't work on weekends so hang tight. This has happened before from what I remember and support has always come through.

It has some unique handling traits so I would spend a minute or two checking out some of the JU tutorials and threads to avoid any frustration

Enjoy a change of pace
