Hi All, I have been downloading skins since day one, but now for no apparent reason when i try to download via Mediafire skins for Me 109-G6 or any other type, i always get an alarm from my anti-virus software [Avast]

I have never had a problem with Mediafire in the past, i found them quick and simple to use. I hope its not a question of having to close my firewall every time i have to download, has anyone else experienced this ?

Cheers

No problem here, I've been downloading skins most days and all G6 skins lately... No dramas!

Do you get the alarm for ANY stuff from MEDIAFIRE, or only from certain members?

That would be important to know - is it MEDIAFIRE as a whole, or maybe only a single user?

EDIT: I just received a request by my KASPERSKY Internet Security, to make an "Important Update" on 7-zip.

MAYbe there was something wrong? Anyone else?

Hi Wolfram, In fact i first had this virus alert when i tried to download one of your skins [ 109-G6 ] but then i tried someone else on the skin download forum and got the same alert message.

Which makes me think that the problem may be my end ?  but as i said in the original post i have never had this problem with your skins or anyone else's when using Mediafire ?

The problem is on your end: uninstall Avast, it's a terrible anti-malware program.

Hi Space_Balls,

are you sure about this? Did you have some bad experience with it?

I run Avast Premier for more than 3 years now and never ever had any issue at all.

I can very rarely see things posted on Mediafire.   I get a 'too many redirections' error.   If there is something I really want to download then sometimes I can force it to work via the Tor Browser.

I work in the industry and simply wouldn't suggest any of their products to any of the clients I've worked with.

...which makes me wonder, if it was something on 7zip's part?
KASPERSKY asked me to update 7zip today, and they called it "Important Update". So might have been there?

If you wanna test that, try to download this following skin from this link.
It was compressed with the updated 7zip. If that should work, we found the troublemaker.

But only this one specific skin was done with the new version!

Hi Wolfram, I did what was suggested and it worked, clicked download and no virus alarm, looks like you solved the problem,  Cheers.

Well, I solved it for me, and only for this one skin. Try another again - those should still make an alarm.
Any data which were not 7-zipped AFTER this recent update may still give you a warning.
I don't think it is anything like a virus though - it seemed to be a false alarm by AVAST, which was now terminated by the update from 7zip.
