Squadron transfer out of theater in Career

Hey all, I'm playing a German career starting in Moscow with the goal of getting all the way through the end of Bodenplatte eventually (ironman). A friend of mine mentioned getting a "end of battle of stalingrad" notification in November of 1942, and he was not sure as to why. Was this because of his squadron transferring out of the theater? In order to complete my goal, will I have to be sure to transfer from my squadron to another before the one I am with leaves the area? or do I get the option to select a new squadron if mine leaves the battle area?

If your squadron leaves the battle early, which happens to a lot of them, you will get the option to continue your career in the same battle you just left. You will even have the opportunity to start out from the beginning of the battle again, although if you want to keep some sense of continuity, you should pick a starting point after the one where you transfered out.
