seafireliv Posted May 9, 2018 Posted May 9, 2018 (edited) I`m due for an upgrade and am thinking of going AMD... The Ryzen 2 looks good, but i`m wondering if BOS will make use of all the cores? Edited May 9, 2018 by seafireliv
Mitthrawnuruodo Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 Last time I checked, BOS used 4 at most. Therefore, the 8 cores of the 2700X will not provide any additional performance. However, that doesn't mean that Ryzen 2 is a bad choice. BOS is heavily dependent on single-thread CPU performance. Intel CPUs are really strong in that respect, but it rarely matters because the graphics card is usually the limiting factor. Even with the strongest graphics card, Ryzen 2 only really struggles if you use VR or aim for high refresh rates on a relatively low-resolution monitor. If you plan to play BOS on a typical monitor, Ryzen 2 will do just fine. Right now, Ryzen 2 does offer good value for applications that can use the additional cores. If you focus primarily on Il-2, Intel will provide better performance at a lower price. What is your current system? CPU upgrades aren't always the most beneficial. 1
seafireliv Posted May 16, 2018 Author Posted May 16, 2018 (edited) ok thanks. Sorry for late reply. edit: My current system was a 4690k 16 gig ram, 1060 gpu. I don`t just use my pc for gaming but also for work (graphics and the like) so decided to go for the Ryzen 2 even if I lose some performance in gaming. Work, as always, takes priority. gibbo25 Posted May 18, 2018 Posted May 18, 2018 Just upgraded to Ryzen 2700x IL-2 runs awesome compared to my FX-8350. Career mode runs flawless on all theatre's and with alot going on which is where I was having alot of issues with the odd slowdowns and alot stuttering over the action point.
