so I stitched up some mission excerpts to go along my remake of the old American song.. however in Russian language.. :)   This song is super popular in Russian culture, pretty much like any other war time songs, by the way. I know this isn't a Russian speaking forum, but it's my home, so if not for the music then stay for the visuals.. which aren't super awesome, I'm a musician after all, not a video editor, so be gentle..

Cool video! I heard you cannot make it home on one engine from a lot of amateur Pe-2 jockeys. I knew they were telling lies :D

It can easily get home on one engine if you do nothing stupid but it certainly gets trickier when you have one wheel down as well :o:    You even survived losing a wing at 1:40! ;)

That is a beautiful video. Well done. You are a musician *and* a video editor :good:

i knew someone would definitely comment on that! :)

I just ran out of the gun footage so I stuck it in for the atmosphere.. : Good eyes, by the way! ;)

but the rest of the footage is all from the same mission, i.e. take off, attack by 6x109's, only 4 of which pursued me.. shot down 2 of those, 2 disengaged.. Almost crashed on landing.

thanks for the kind words too!

edit:  the difficult part in making this video was to actually  1) receive damage 2) engine shuts down  3) plenty of holes in the wing 4) survive till the end.

Man, you seemed to attract the German fighters like a flower attracts the bees! :scare:

The song sounds quite romantic in Russian - I guess that fits with the Russian heart and soul?

Must check YOUTUBE for the American version - didn't know this song.

Your avatar name - are you perchance the musician "MoosE" who made the soundtrack for the first STALKER game?

yup, Russian romance melodies are usually in minor key, so I thought why not do this one a justice.  The original song is from the 40's, quite patriotic and I don't particularly like the American version with all its horns and a weird harmony.  MoosE isn't me. :) I'm Peach Stealing Monkeys. But kudos to you, sir, for knowing the score creator for STALKER!

I was looking for the original and Russian versions of this song and found an English version being sung by a Russian singer over a Russian film showing women flying P39s.  Any idea what the film is?

The same artist with a more upbeat version (using footage from Memphis Belle?)  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifKowJbO0EE

I love games, when they are a bit different from the mainstream, and when they have their own, artistic and emotional atmosphere.
"STALKER - Shadow of Cernobyl" was one such game, and I played it a lot. I think it couldn't have been made by Americans -

it has a morbid, sombre and yet romantic feel which only Russians or Europeans could produce so well IMHO.

MoosE's music fitted so perfectly into this piece of game-art - it even raised it onto another level of immersion.

For all who never heard the theme and want to know...
