Soon we should get ability to put custom photo of ourselves for caree. Out of curiosity what will be your pictures if you don't mind sharing? I except people with have some nice ideas for them.

My avatar next to my post obviously when flying Russian.  I faked it from my (younger) head on a real VVS pilots photo.  I may have to fake up another one for the rare occasions that I fly LW.

We were doing this in IL-2 1946 many years ago. Nonetheless it's very useful for screenshots.

You could have generated a little longer - there must be hundreds of possible faces? This guy would be arrested for "un-Germanly appearance"...

 

Here are my pilots. Even with longer selection, I could never generate a German yet, who looks as sympathic as my Russians.

Gimp.  In my case I took a body that was posed like my picture.  Cut my head from my picture and sized it to the body.  Added a hat from another photo.  Blurred things to make everything more or less match in terms of sharpness.  More blurring to wipe out the hard edges of the cut and pastes.

 

And yes, the cocked hat is on purpose :).

He took a picture of a Soviet female fighter pilot (now way you'll ever look so beautiful, Finkeren! Mmuahahahahaaa!!!)

 

The Russians had several female fighter pilots, and a whole squadron of bomber pilots - the famous "Night Witches".
That what the Germans called them, cause they came by night and were hard to shoot down.

Here is a good docu from German TV channel ZDF - you can find others in English, but with lesser image quality.

That’s right, so she was a fighter pilot after all, though her career sounds tragically alike most of my own: Killed in her third dogfight right after getting her first kill.

The personal photos cannot yet be implemented in the sim, Spartan. This thread is rather about the idea to build that in to it.

As for the offered images (which seem to be like a police department identification set): you can click on "change photo"
as often as you like, and see through maybe hundreds of possible variants.

He pissed off Stalin many times but escaped the Gulag due to impressing Stalin with his annoying tendency to argue... And shoot down German aircraft. "He may be as black as the Ace of Spades and an argumentative ****** but he shoots down German aircraft !" Stalin has been quoted as saying.

Stalin buried all reference after the war, by shooting everyone concerned, and the annoying pilot suddenly vanish, never to be seen again.   But some say he escaped to write his memoirs that few know about...

Do you know Lieutenant Roger Sauvage ? Not properly a Soviet pilot but a member of the Free French Squadron Normandie Niemen : flying Yak-9s and Yak-3s and fighting alongside the Red Army against the nazis, with 16 kills, he was of Afro-Caribbean origin (Martinique) and a dark skinned man.
