Bearcat Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 I'd like to see some sort of multi tierd scoring system implemented in BoS where the server host has the option to choose several different ways of registering score in online missions. 1 - An individual point system by player similar to what we now have in IL2 but not necessarily with the same values. 2 - A team point system where all the points are broken down solely by by team. 3 - A combined system where the team points are displayed but they are also broken down by individual on each team. Each point broken down by object even if it was a simple breakdown of AC, Ship, Vehicle, Armor, Artillery it would be good but even better if it took into account the type of specific object like say a bomber vs a fighter.. or a tank vs a truck or a flak gun vs an 88. 1
4Shades Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Personally I think simple scoring systems detract from the game and promote the wrong kinds of behaviours, but I recognize that the vast majority of players crave this kind of performance feedback. Following on Bearcat's post, I think we ought to consider a results format that lists the number and type of losses on both sides and who was responsible for the loss. Tallying this into a score would then just require a lookup table of values per object type, and the lookup table values could be edited by the host, if he/she is interested to do so. Cheers, 4Shades
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 I think if ground objects and ships had points values it would add to the game and diversify the roles pilots choose. Make ground objects more than just objectives to be completed. And this is coming from a dedicated bomber hunter B)
Rjel Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 I think too if teamplay is considered, then a value should be placed on whether your leader or wingman survived the fight also.
Bearcat Posted January 2, 2013 Author Posted January 2, 2013 I remember in CFS 1 on the Zone if you had the system set as team points it jus showed a team total ... but that actually seemed to foster more cooperation because guys were lessninterested in their individual score and more in how the entire team made out. We did alot of squad vs squadntype things back then and some really great rivalries were created... In the end it is really more about having fun. Whatever BoS is.. if it is fun.. and that includes a satisfactory level of immersion along with the action then it will all pan out. 1
Feuerfalke Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Let's not forget a nice online-stats-system. The best points on a server for helping the team is nothing, if the teamplayer loses all his points at disconnect. IMHO the stats-system of RoF is a great start for this. Just that WW2 is a more complex environment with a greater variety of planes and mission-types. And if we go for streamlined flying in a multiplayer-environment, this would probably be a good longterm motivation.
Bearcat Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 Yes that is a good idea too.. I know that stock 4.11.1 has a good system of recording stats in QMBs..
