PatrickAWlson Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 Multiple savable configurations (keys, etc) that can be loaded before or in a mission from settings. Reason: We all like to fly different planes. We all have a limited number of buttons. Some controls are are more important in some planes than others. This should actually be an easy one. Let us name the configuration and load it via settings when we want. We already have this for one set of settings. Allowing multiple is as simple as naming the file. Support for continuous inputs dials and levers to control things that move in stages: flaps, radiators, mixture controls, etc. Reason: many of us have some controls that we would love to map to a lever or knob. Because they are controlled with multiple discrete key presses instead of a continuous control, we can't. This one I acknowledge is probably tougher, as there would have to be support for both discrete and continuous inputs. 1 5
Horna Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 Agreed. I spent hours this weekend trying to configure the keys so that they wouldn't overlap too much, it was an exhausting process. In addition, as I have a T16000M stick, I have lots of work tuning the rudder constantly. For example, the Mig-3 needs extremely delicate rudder in my hands while other planes work better with a quicker response. I tried to solve this by adding a secondary rudder, the TWCS throttle's rudder paddle, but it refuses to work in conjunction unless I invert one axis... Kinda weird, as you can assign something like throttle + twist as rudder combination but the paddle just won't work. One more problem I have : Inspired by the magnificent A-20, I bought a secondary TWCS throttle so I could do proper engine management individually for both engines. It works, almost. The one thing missing, is individual prop feathering. I have all other required things, from mixtures to prop pitch, but having just one prop feathering means I still need to use keys for select engine 1, select engine 2, de-select engine 2, select all engines and so on... So in short : Yes, the configs could use some love from the devs, it would be most welcomed !
dburne Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 As this great sim continues to grow and develop, it would be very nice to eventually get individual controller settings per plane. Plus the ability to assign a HOTAS button as a modifier to increase number of commands available per button.

Let the user make different configs til the cows come home and assign them to airplanes or load them in mission as an override. Since the configs are effectively text files keeping multiples is not hard. Beyond that it is a matter of handling a config by name - again, not that hard. The ability to change even in mid flight already exists so it would seem to be a relatively straight forward extension of existing functionality. Here's hoping.
Thad Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 Salutations, If they are indeed text files is should be straightforward as you say. Why haven't the programmers provided us this capability? It has been asked for again and again on these forums.
