VSN_Razor Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 (edited) I'm sorry if this topic has been beaten to death before or not, but I've always wondered, what about other modifications for the G2? I've already seen one or two threads about asking why the Bf-110 G2 does not have rockets or other things and I couldn't find a definitiv answer about that. Now, despite some sources stating that they had rockets, what about other modifications or loadouts for it? Is there a chance that we could find one or the other in the future for the G2? I'm mainly talking about modifications like dual Mk-108s or even a GM-1 system for this aircraft. Not that I can't fly or handle this aircraft right now, it's just a question that crossed my mind... It would be really fun if we'd get some more toys to play with. Or what about some simple fuel tanks? (I know the size of the map wouldn't really allow it to be used with full tanks and additional fuel tanks...) My sources: http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Waffen/Me110-R.htm http://www.jagdgeschwader4.de/index.php/flugwerft-hauptraum/jaeger/messerschmitt-bf-110 http://www.historyofwar.org/articles/weapons_bf_110G.html Edited May 5, 2018 by VSN_Razor
ShamrockOneFive Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 What they prioritized were the equipment and loadouts for the Eastern Front usage of the Bf110G-2. Also, ones that would be appropriate for the 1943 timeframe. The MK108 came later (1944ish - I'm sure someone has details on that) and the rockets were used for breaking up heavy bomber formations during Defense of the Reich missions. We're still missing some bombs like the AB250 and AB500 as well. 1
Custard Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 Exactly, as has been said, the loadouts for more or less all the aircraft we have in the sim are indicative of the way these aircraft were operated on the Eastern Front (with a few exceptions like the Macchi's gunpods and the MK108 on the G-6). If we ever get another battle where the G-2 saw action (like Italy) I figure it's pretty likely we'd get the modifications that saw service on the Bf 110 in the West.
=RvE=Windmills Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 They've said they'll consider modifications for the G6 to fit a late war scenario, I'd assume the same would go for the 110. Mk108 would be nice at the very least, though rockets seem rather pointless.
Eicio Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 I can't remember where but I thought that the devs also said that fuel tanks will be in bobp, for some planes...
VSN_Razor Posted May 5, 2018 Author Posted May 5, 2018 Before I will return back to the topic, I have to get rid of something first. I'm fairly new to the IL-2 series and thus the possibility that I didn't get or read about certain informations is quite big. If I have missed something important, I'd love to get a link and inform myself about it. Back to the topic: It makes sense to me that they modeled a 110 that fits the scenario and that's one way to justify the missing existence of these modifications in IL-2 BoK. One thing doesn't add up for me though. As far as I personally can tell, they haven't exactly specified which G-2 they are doing (If they did so, see first bit of my post). In this case it would be the G-2 1943 early and due to this, again, it's personal opinion which can obviously different to yours, I could expect to have all modifications to be included. I know this argument can be used in both ways, so I guess it's up for the developers to decide if they want to include them or not... But again, I don't mind if they are in or not. It would be amazing if they were though. One can dream...

AndyJWest Posted May 5, 2018 Posted May 5, 2018 (edited) The thing is, 'expecting' the developers to include things they haven't at any time said they would isn't very sensible. They only have limited resources, and have to make decisions on that basis. They are modelling the Eastern front, during a specific timescale, and pick relevant modifications accordingly. Including every possible modification would require more time, and more money, and that might very well hit sales. Edited May 5, 2018 by AndyJWest
