Wolf8312 Posted May 15, 2018 Author Posted May 15, 2018 Looks great, VR and Hotas support? I'm enjoying ultimate general civil war at the moment!

Wolf8312 Posted May 30, 2018 Author Posted May 30, 2018 Rainbox six siege I have found to be top notch and can strongly recommend! Not that I havent played the old R6 games but its still refreshing to play a game that is not just a dying simulator and requires tactics and skill. Same reason I like PUBG. Man that game can be utterly thrilling at times! Like when the enemy starts shooting at you and you duck into some grass crawling back to your car with heart literally pounding, and take off with him still blasting away at you. Escapes like that are purely cinematic in how they feel. It works so well because it actually makes you care about surviving, with the tension increasing the longer that you manage to stay alive. A very good game but sadly not always a great online experience with laggy servers etc.
Wolf8312 Posted June 11, 2018 Author Posted June 11, 2018 Well I can recommed a game. It's called Hunt: Showdown! Fantastic atmosphere graphics and sound with satisfying meaty combat.
6./ZG26_Custard Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 Two that caught my eye at E3. Here is a title that I thought was dead and buried but the developers have breathed new live into the game and it really is a great bit of fun. Takes me way back to demolition derby .
JG5_Zesphr Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 Although RPG's don't seem to be a thing you're madly into i'd recommend Fallout: New Vegas as on sale it's dirt cheap and with a few mods to help the graphics and, most importantly, the stability. It's probably one of the best RPG's out there and make hours seem like minutes. It's also made by what is considered the original devs of the franchise and it shows as the the dark humour, atmosphere and character is all there (plus a good dashing of pop culture references with the wild wastelands perk). Not to mention you can easily play through 2-3 times and always find something new or a new way to do something. https://store.steampowered.com/app/22380/Fallout_New_Vegas/

Hide contents https://store.steampowered.com/app/22380/Fallout_New_Vegas/ In theory I do like RPG's but you're quite right I never seem to be able to get into them. I think the problem is that I like satisfying challenging combat, and many RPG's are more focused on story. Mass effect 2 for example I just loathed, interactive movie with incredibly shallow gameplay, though I know fallout is much more substantial, but still I always found it a little clunky. I remember rather liking fallout 3, but its the kind of game where I feel like I'm wasting my time somehow. I can never really be bothered walking around all over the place or even reading the characters dialouge! I know IL-2 is not really any less of a waste of time, but as I got older my patience with exploration games seems to have declined. Even though flight sims require alot of learning, one you have put the work in they are great games to just play for an hour or two and then do something else. But I tell you one of my best games of all times was Deus ex, an RPG. Challenging, great story and with genuine consequences to your actions, whereby taking decisions actually changed the fate of the whole story/game. That is actually the exact sort of game I love, but developers these days still tend to make games where consequences might differ dependant upon the choices you make, but are essentially still illusive, and still lead towards the same result, which is ussually evident even before the second playthrough. If a game did have real consequences, say for example you kill someone and become a fugitive (as in Deus ex) then that would be a special game. Too many RPG's just let you rampage around doing anything without any real consequence or reaction from the people around you. If you are an evil c*nt the game and its inhabitants should at least let you know they are aware of this! Kinda like the look of kingdom come deliverance though, anyone played that and like it? I hear it has genuine consequences? Edited June 26, 2018 by Wolf8312

Kind of an RPG with a strategic layer which has an addictive quality about it, at least for me.
Wolf8312 Posted June 26, 2018 Author Posted June 26, 2018 Looking forward to the new one cause as you say its so dated the original that its kind of off putting, but I loved chivalry. Playing that with a close friend was hilarious though annoying in MP as they all used this spinning kind of exploit to win.

However focusing on NV, you get factions and settlement that all react to your options with doing quests which dictate who likes you and who doesn't. You can kill anyone meaning certain quests you can't do and almost always have a peaceful solution as well. Not to mention the ability to somewhat sneak into other factions whilst wearing their armour. Finally the ending slideshow shows what happened due to your actions of most groups in the Mojave. As far as hardness is concerned, the lead dev actually released his own mod (JSawyer ultimate mod) that does make it harder by lowing the level cap and making you specialise more as a character + survival elements. As always it's your choice and in terms of fallout 3, it's a more immersive, realistic and "dynamic" experience however there is a fair amount of walking for the first act of the game but this is usually covered by the quests.

Just looks like a better engined version of forgotten hope 2 the ww2 mod based on battlefield 2. If it's a decent campaign with a decent retelling of some of the battles might be a worth a play through..
Daff Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 Not sure if anyone mentioned this. Made by 3dRealms on the BUILD engine. A new FPS in early access. 1
wombatBritishBulldogs Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 "S.T.A.L.K.E.R" hands down anyone who plays or has played this would most likely agree using the mods (or not)related to Stalker has improved the game no end ! give it a go if not already, My tip would be to start with "Shadow of Chernobyl "with mods before moving on to any of the other series ! its all available on steam and the Mods here https://www.moddb.com/mods?filter=t&kw=+stalker+Shadow+of+Chernobyl&released=&genre=&theme=&players=&timeframe=&game=80 Ive payed them all over the decades and still when a rainy day sets in i find myself thinking of S.T.A.L.K.E.R ? 2

The PC game market has gone down the tubes from where I sit. Give me another REAL Rainbow 6, Jedi Knight, maybe another Batman Arkham game that actually runs on the PC this time. Another Thief game that’s as good as the original. I look for games to buy now and then - and there’s ZERO that interest me. I don’t want blood and guts and zombies. Every time I finished a session of the old Half Life I felt nauseous. I’m to the point where I’m considering re-installing Arkham City or Origins.
Trooper117 Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 I played all the original series of R6 to death... I still have the boxed versions, loved them. There has been nothing since that matches up to their standard of game play...

Gambit21 Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Sharpe - I wasn’t aware, thank you. That said I’m very cautious nowadays about getting hopeful with regard to a game in development...been burned too many times now. If it comes to fruition and delivers - I’ll be happy. Thanks again.
