Deafult DDS skin files extraction

Hello to all.

 

Can anyone please tell me where can I find the default DDS plane skin files, or alternatively, which tool should be used to extract them from the in game data files.

The reason for this is that me, personally, I prefer to edit the original skins, which I like very much already, than to use an available template.

For me, it's usually easier, and it keeps up consistency within all the plane looks. I see the available templates are indeed very good, but this is just a matter of personal taste.

afaik original skins are encrypted within a container format so you cant access them.

Yes, sure. But I've seen mods posted here where the default plane skin dds files were used, which means they are accessible... unless the method is meant to be kept in secret...

You have to search through the mods section, you will find it there. I dont have the time to look for it now so you will have to do it yourself. 

It is not secret though. Just requires a good search.

Focus your search on "unGTP".

This software allows you to extract default skins from the skins*.gtp files.

Found it and did unpack (even more than) what I wanted.
