Hi guys,

I love my VKB Gladiator, in fact I have two in case one goes down.

Lately I’m having an issue where once and a while I have no guns. I have to get out of the game and relaunch and I’ll have them again.

I’ve checked and it’s not my controller, and when I assign the guns to a keystroke, that doesn’t work either. It’s very random but boy is it getting frustrating. Any ideas? Thanks

I've had this issue myself as I was bouncing an La-5 while flying a 109.  Make sure you have white circle things  above your ammo counter (indicates that your guns are charged) before you take off after starting up the engine.  I think its a bug that happens randomly as other people I've flown with had it happen to them in 109's

Yes, I had it the other day while flying a G6... Annoying!

This happened several times to multiple people on WoL earlier, myself included. Definitely a bug, the input is registered, you can see the trigger depress and hear a 'click' as though the guns were out of ammunition. Switching plane type usually solved it but that is of little comfort to a person already in a dogfight.

Yup happens in many aircraft and nothing to do with joysticks.  At least most Axis aircraft have an ammo counter.   Allies don't find out until they are on your 6 :-)

Someone recently made a casual comment while talking about something else and it was along the lines of 'I had to quickly despawn & respawn and forgot to go into the 'Options' screen so I got the 'no ammo' bug.'      Is that really the answer?   Does it only happen when you launch without going into the 'Options' screen?   It may not have been 'Despawn & Respawn' because I often do that knowing nothing changes in between.  Perhaps it is when you switch aircraft or switch airfields and ar ein such a hurry that you forget to check the loadouts.  I know that should still give you the default ammo but maybe sometimes it causes a bug.

Does the "reload all guns" command do anything? Haven´t had this kind of problem yet.

I have been having a similar problem with the boost button I have set on my hotas since the last hot fix. It is fine when i test it but in game it switches on and off on its own or does not register at times or is slow to react. The slow to react bit tells me that it is not the hardware.

Any chance it is your mode button.  The light changes from green to red and vise versa when pressed.  If green, the guns do not work.  If red, they work.

Yeah thanks, I did look at that but unfortunately that's not the issue. It looks like I'm not alone here and perhaps it's a bug. It's odd though that not everyone is seeing this if it is indeed a bug..

Ok confirmed- this is it. Often times the guns aren’t charging on startup.

Im flying 109s in WOL btw.

Is this happening only online or in SP situations?

It's only happening in MP, WOL server to be exact. I haven't tried any other servers. Sometimes I need to get out of the server and rejoin, other times simply choosing a different aircraft works.

It seems like most people are experiencing it in multiplayer, which seems like it would just be a server bug. But obviously it happens outside of MP.

If it happened in career mode, maybe its a problem with server-generated missions? Just spitballing here.

I haven't run into it yet, but I've been playing mostly quick missions so...

It happened to me on multiple occasions on Berloga. After carefully maneuvering to stick my nose into yak's canopy, I pressed trigger and nothing happened. It was quite frustrating.

To be clear,  my squadmates & I have had this bug online in Coconut Expert using Allied aircraft.  One also had a problem with finding no bombs in his PE2 but we cannot totally discount the possibility he chose the wrong loadout.

I have seen suggestions that it only happens (and not every time) when you switch aircraft or airfields then spawn without going into the loadout menu at all.  I do not know if that is true.

Well I don’t know if the devs saw this thread and did something or maybe just luck but it’s been working great. It hasn’t happened to me in maybe 30 or so sorties now in WOL, and yet it was happening every few sorties a few days ago..

I have had this bug often but only with German planes never with Russian planes.

To my best recollection the no ammo bug appears to be occurring when swapping bases and selecting the same plane after having flown one of more mission(s).

I recommend when selecting a different airfield after having flown one of more mission(s) to initially/immediately select a different plane at the new airfield before re selecting you same plane.

Due to the illogical and irregular nature of the issue this might end up just being a superstitious behavior . Will be hard to prove unless you get the no ammo bug after doing this; but at least it might work.
