With the U2 now in the game, I'm very impressed with how the devs have coordinated with the 3rd party devs. I'm now very keen to see if the devs will continue with the Li-2/C-47, as I think it will add a plane that will play a significant part in IL-2.

I really hope we hear word of a C-47 coming soon. I've been practicing flying the old gal in Xplane 11, getting used to the controls and such. xD

It would be such an amazing aircraft to see and fly in a combat zone! Its been my dream to make a D-Day type mission, similar to what you see in shows like Band Of Brothers. Flying through flak filled skies with tons of C-47s dropping paratroopers. Watching as some of them get shot down, their flaming wreckage lighting up the night sky before they smash into the ground in a blazing show of fire.

The Kuban map as some fantastic areas to set up those types of missions as well. Take off, fly out to sea then turn in towards the coast, and kind of simulate flying over the English channel and into Normandy.

Come on 1C! We need the old gal asap! :joy:

It's incredible that you can still find parts to keep these birds flying in a commercial capacity

Would be nice to even have a static one for BobP for base scenery.

I even have the schematic of Y-29 and the spot where the C-47 was parked. :)

It was parked there most of the time from my understanding, pretty sure it was there on that morning as well.

That'd be pretty crazy if they'd made one during ww2, C-47 full of .50s.

Maybe if they ever go to Nam we will see a Spooky.

I would say a Li-2 / C47 is just part of the game! With the U2 I would have waited or brought together with the Fiesla Storch. A DB-3 !! would have been a very good choice as a pure Russian bomber

The IL-4 was the mainstay, though, and the DB-3 sucked comparatively.  It would be nice to have something that's competitive with Ju-88s and He-111s.

They could make the DB-3F that was very similar to the IL-4. IIRC you could implement the main changes via modifications to convert it to IL-4.
