Bearcat Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 I cannot get my profiles to stick. They keep reverting back to the default. I have tried running as administrator.. I hate this new TIR software.. and I hate W7. The only good thing about it is it supports more memory otherwise it absolutely blows. All this extra security cr@p and fixing what was not broken thereby breaking it.. UGGHH!! Anybody have these issues.
Bando Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Maybe all too obvious: In the settings, where you set your profile did you tick the "exclusive"?
Bearcat Posted January 13, 2014 Author Posted January 13, 2014 Yup.. that's why it is getting so frustrating.. It seems like on it's own the profile will just go back to default..
unreasonable Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Not sure what TIR you are running but why not revert to earlier version? I still use TIR 4 on Win7 and have no problems.
dburne Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 (edited) Fwiw, I installed the TIR software, just as I do most of my other important apps , outside of the program files(x86) folder , or even the program files folder ( if 64 bit app). Too often the permissions/security can get in the way when operating inside of those default folders. I believe sometimes issues like you describe can happen as a result of letting it install to the default program files locations. Obviously I can't say for sure this is the cause on your system, only what I have seen in the past. For instance, I installed the Track IR software and the Target software for my Warthog, just to their own folders on C:, rather than C:\\Program Files..... So I have C:\\ Natural Point\, and C:\\ Thrustmaster\ directories along with the files within them. I also make sure I save my custom profiles, for both of these apps, in their own folders outside of the program files folders as well ( I believe they will default to program files so I make sure I browse to new location to save them to). I created a new folder for Target Custom Profiles, and Track IR Custom Profiles, and nestled them within the Natural Point and Thrustmaster folders. I have always left UAC on with my systems, and taking these steps have always kept me from running into conflicts with apps such as these due to UAC. I can certainly attest that for me, the latest Track IR software worked just fine on my previous build I had up until 3 weeks ago with Win 7 64 bit, and now on this new build with Win 8.1 64 bit. Georgio Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Maybe try adapting the default profile to your liking, resaving and then making 100% sure the exclusive box is ticked. It should work.
ST_ami7b5 Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Strange... I use TIR5 with latest SW on W7/64 and never lost my (exclusive) custom profile. Haven't switched UAC off so far.

Thanks db ... This is what solved my issue.. I installed the TIR SW outside of the Programs folder, on my D drive actually since I have a SSD and it's getting kind of tight.. Thanks guys for all the input..
