Saving "centered" views in german airplanes with gunsights on the right side.

Is there some easy way to save "centered" views in german airplanes with gunsights on the right side?

I know it's possible to just move the head more or less left to more or less center the view and save this position using F10, but i'm wondering is there some simpler/more precise way?

cheers

I think this is the only way to do it. Maybe there is some kind of ini file somewhere that records the default head positions that you could modify to be more precise, but it seems like that would be more work than just doing it with the F10 thing.

ive always thought sims virtual pilots were dwarfs

a real gunsight its at your chest height, you dcuk to aim, thats why they have pads on the gunsigth so you rest your face agaisnt it

I had no idea about that, is that true with all the aircraft?

As usual, he's talking straight-up bullcrap. The gunsight padding was to protect the pilot's face in case of a hard landing.

Not in a Bf 109, raaaid - the gunsight was in front of your face.
The whole cockpit situation was even more crammed than in this sim.

Having no way to tell, I really do have to assume that this was a joke. You can't have made a statement that dumb and been serious.

LOL I can just imagine, I'm getting lined up behind the Hun, screaming down on him at 500 km/h in my shiny new Yak-1.

And then, at the last second, I hunch my head down to chest height like Quasimodo, press my face against the glass reflector sight, and let Fritz have it.

I'm gonna put some padding around my monitor so I can do this IRL.

They had no forward downward visibility. See this video - how deep the Spit pilot is sitting, and where the gunsight is right in front of his face.

"sims are wrong". Absolute blasphemy.  :o:

btw check your own argument

I checked it, raaaid - live, in the Luftwaffe Museum Gatow, Berlin. I have seen the Bf 109 cockpit with my own eyes.

Some cockpits offer more space in height, but never very much. Perhaps these videos will show it better.

Those videos are still a treat to watch after not seeing them for a couple years. Thanks Wolfram
