I played this campaign for the second time a month ago and yes, this problem still exist. Not only for player aircraft, but for NPCs too. It can be avoided though. Land your plane by yourself and for the AIs...if you are NOT a leader, detach from the formation when close to the airfield, land before they start with landing circle and finish the mission before someone crash to the hill. If you ARE a leader, it is even more simple. Guide your formation above airfield, use command "Return to base" or even better "Hold position" and that should give you plenty of time to land before someone crash to the hill. I've notice you mentioned this also in the bug section, that you can't finish the campaign because of that, but it is not true. You can. Even when what I wrote above is not a solution for the bug, it is very effective workaround. 1

Therefore, the only solution for now is the one mentioned above, i.e., manual landing.
Aapje Posted October 12 Posted October 12 I had the opposite issue with the campaign, where manual landing wouldn't register the plane as having landed, so I switched over to autopilot landing.

Are just you land, shut down engine and finish the mission, or also taxi from the runway and so on? I always: -take care to hit last waypoint -ensure runway is empty and nobody is landing -ensure that my approach is long and shallow, not short and steep -when this is done, usually my pilot asks and gets permission to land -I always pass through halfway of the runway (mission completion message usually appears here) -taxi to the hangar, aprons area or somewhere near parked planes of my type -shut down engine and finish mission With this checklist I have 100% completion ratio for now.
Aapje Posted October 12 Posted October 12 I hit all waypoints. I got permission to land. I did land pretty early on the runway and then taxi'd to the side and shut down. My goal when landing is generally to use as little runway as possible, and the IL-2 is of course quite slow. I had two failed missions in a row this way, so then I gave up. The autopilot didn't fail any landings for me, although it was common for other planes to crash while landing.
