wormeaten Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Something might have changed in the patch within the input folder, so I've updated the package. It should work now, thanks for letting me know Wormeaten. Thank you for posting this.
76SQN-FatherTed Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Thanks Requiem! since TIR is discussed here. Can I ask if its possible to get freetrack working with BOS? Freetrack user here. For me it works "out of the box" with BoS. As a side issue, I recently added a PS3 eye-camera to my setup and it makes things a lot smoother in RoF/BoS than a bog-standard webcam.
URUAker Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Thanks guys! I can use freetrack in ROF but can´t in BOS, but now that i know its possible i´ll try until i get it working. I have tried facetracknoir but i like Freetrack better
wormeaten Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I'm using FacetrackNoIR. Freetrack was not updated for more than 2 years. FacetrackNoIR could use IR clip as well so working even better than Freetrack now. Check it out here.
MikeDitka Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 I was struggling so much to figure out the cockpit layouts, especially on the Russian aircraft. Thanks Requiem, your video guides from RoF and now BoS are virtually required material for pilots transitioning to these sims.
Emgy Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 I'm using FacetrackNoIR. Freetrack was not updated for more than 2 years. FacetrackNoIR could use IR clip as well so working even better than Freetrack now. Check it out here. Yep but some people have issues looking 90 degrees up with Ftnoir. For those people, this should be solved by using https://github.com/opentrack/opentrack with ezca mode enabled in protocol options. Opentrack is basically ftnoir but updated more often.
smink1701 Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 I use Fifi's setting for BOS. Was wondering if there were any others I should try? Thanks

Requiem Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 (edited) Cheers guys, I'm very happy you all like what you've seen so far On the other hand I'm very bummed though that the F11 free camera from RoF still isn't enabled yet. Other camera options have been carried over from RoF so it has obviously been deliberately disabled for the EA version. I won't be doing BFM or ACM videos without it because the learning points I try and get across to you guys would suffer. The BFM and ACM stuff is where most people's interest lies I think considering this is a combat sim, so I'm hoping the devs are listening and help me to help them. Otherwise, why bother putting out inferior videos? Very nice tutorilas !!!! Requiem---- are you a real time flight instructor ? I certainly hope so, I have sent your tutorials to a friend of mine who is just getting into flying ( real time ) who had some questions on crosswind landings and other things. Your tutorials are concise and well demonstrated and as they say--a picture is a worth a thousand words, so -- man a video is worth at least a million words ---ha !!!!--- Thanks so much for these contributions--I wanted you to know that some of these tutorials were getting out to real time student pilots as well as to folks in the sim world and helping tremendously !!---- Great Stuff !!!,, cheers--sf -- No I'm not Soarfeat, I've never been able to afford the costs involved, but it's something I've always wanted to do so maybe I'll do it one day if all the stars fall into place. Just please remember that these videos will never be substitutes for RL training and that I've never claimed they are. I've had internet experts get their panties in a twist at me over sim-footage I've used to illustrate principles thinking I'm passing it off as RL training for some reason, so I often feel like I need to use that disclaimer. 71st_AH_Hooves Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 i cannot seem to get sweet FX to work in this build. Ive reinstalled it twice and done every trick I can think of, is anyone else having problems??
Toxin1 Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I too have lost SweetFx functionality. Very dissappointed . I5 3.8G, 16G Mem, 2 Gig-Radeon 6950, Win7U
PA-Sniv Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Me too, I checked data folder and exe file but couldn't make it work yesterday. Never had this issue before.
71st_AH_Hooves Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Apparently turning off anti-aliasing in-game allows SweetFX to function correctly. this worked! and Im just using nvidia AA. Ty for the heads up!
Ala13_Kike Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 (edited) It's impossible for me to use FXflight, the directx d3d9.dll file that this program was insert inside the Il2 BoS folder make impossible to run Il2.exe. I have the same problem in skyrim with ENB, and I don't know why. THe only solution that I have to solve this it's rename this d3d9.dll, but FXAA or SMAA don't run in this case. My GPU it's one HD5850, if any has one solution Edited April 2, 2014 by SuDoKu
wormeaten Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Yep but some people have issues looking 90 degrees up with Ftnoir. For those people, this should be solved by using https://github.com/opentrack/opentrack with ezca mode enabled in protocol options. Opentrack is basically ftnoir but updated more often. I will like to try it but didn't find any proper tutorial about it. I don't know what this really is. Is it separate software or plug in or what? No real tutorials just real confusion about it. So until this will be fixed I will stay with something I could get proper information. Sorry nothing personal but right now Opentrack is more confusing me than help.
Requiem Posted April 6, 2014 Author Posted April 6, 2014 Update 6 April 2014: The Fighter Pilot Mindset This is an important concept that can be difficult to implement, but when you do the results are well worth it A bit more information on this can be found by googling or checking out the information section of the video. See my first post for the video as usual. 1
busdriver Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 Update 6 April 2014: The Fighter Pilot Mindset This is an important concept that can be difficult to implement, but when you do the results are well worth it A bit more information on this can be found by googling or checking out the information section of the video. See my first post for the video as usual. Damn you're good! You make it look effortless, it goes without saying that you clearly have had hundreds of hours training/practicing your OODA loop. Nicely done!
6./ZG26_Gielow Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 It looks like a manual about how to lunch. Boring.
Requiem Posted April 7, 2014 Author Posted April 7, 2014 Are you really that lacking self-awareness? Can't you see what coming in here just to type a derogatory comment says about you? People like you really help to make the forum a joyous place! @ Requiem I'm sure you don't take any notice of comments like the above, hopefully you realise that save for the odd mouth-breather your work is valued and appreciated. It's no big deal. Before videos are released publically they are reviewed by four pilots, two of which are ex-USAF fighter pilots. The input and feedback I get from these guys is invaluable in helping to shape what is released, so once the process is done it leaves me pretty confident that what is released is beneficial to the viewers and worthwhile to make. I don't expect every video to appeal to everyone, especially this last one as it is an abstract concept that is difficult to illustrate in such a short timeframe. By necessity it has a lot "boring" theory as Gielow would say, but it lays the groundwork for fully understanding the concept. Besides, it's important enough to be included in real fighter pilot training, so why not introduce it here? It certainly can't hurt anyone who watches it 2
csThor Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 I only stumbled across your TIR profile today. Thanks for providing that ... it greatly helps looking around in cockpit.
Bando Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 A heartfelt "thank you" for your effort Requiem. No matter what others may say, I do like the video's and learn from them. Also, your TIR profile was one I used for years (the one from ROF) untill I finally made one myself (ahum, based on what you provided, but well....I changed it a bit to my preferences )
Madov Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Many heartfelt thanks for all your work, I do like the video tutorials and I have just installed the TrackIR profile which is just what I needed in both BoS and CloD. Sorted!
wormeaten Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 I can't make sweetfx to work on my Win 8.1 64. Not just this game not working for CloD too. When I'm start game it i just CTD. Any advice?

Any advice? I hate quoting myself, but at the bottom of the original post I wrote: "If you are using FlightFX and experiencing crashing when the BoS launcher starts, disable SweetFX, re-start the BoS launcher, then enable SweetFX and you should be fine" See if that works. That's about my limit of SweetFX troubleshooting Edited April 11, 2014 by SYN_Requiem
EmperorBobSaget Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Great post and great videos. Can you give any general tips to a brand new flight simulator player?
Requiem Posted April 13, 2014 Author Posted April 13, 2014 (edited) Great post and great videos. Can you give any general tips to a brand new flight simulator player? Cheers Acesopro, some general advice for you: Learn one aircraft a time and master it before moving on to another one. Try to spend at least an hour just flying it around before even thinking about doing anything else. Stuff like turns, climbs, dives, aerobatics... Master the basics in the aircraft before you start shooting at things. If you can fly without thinking about what your doing you can spend your brain power on figuring out how to try and hit the guy Otherwise you end up splitting your brain power between trying to control your plane and trying to shoot and this will slow down your learning a lot. Learn how to land your chosen plane well. What good is a 3 or 4 kill sortie if your you crash at the airfield Find a wingman or a squad, flying by yourself as a new player is an easy way to get killed and ensure frustration. Don't give up. The longer you push a fight the longer you give the other guy to make a mistake you could exploit. If you venture into MP don't care about being shot down, it will happen...repeatedly. Always check your ego at the door before entering MP. Never be afraid to ask questions. Practice, practice, practice. Edited April 13, 2014 by SYN_Requiem
EmperorBobSaget Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Cheers Acesopro, some general advice for you: Thanks dude, I appreciate this. I decided I'm going to start with the Bf 109 first since it's always been my favorite looking airplane! I've been doing lots of missions that have my start on the runway and fly to an area to have a dogfight. You're so right about mastering the airplane first before shooting at anything because when I'm fighting the AI, I'm flying around like an idiot making maneuvers (not like I know any to begin with!) while trying to shoot them. Once I get used to the movement of the plane I'll try enabling the oil/radiator engine options so I can get a true experience!
TJT Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 (edited) Well made video tutorials. Sub'ed to the channel now. Looking forward to more of these. Edited April 16, 2014 by TJT
Requiem Posted April 18, 2014 Author Posted April 18, 2014 (edited) Update 18 April 2014: Yak-1 Familiarisation See first post for video. Again, I'm sorry that there are no real BFM or ACM videos yet guys. I really want to make them in the best way possible, but I can't without the free roaming F11 camera. I still have a few videos left to make before I am sent 'out of commission' due to its absence though, so hopefully it will be enabled sooner rather than later Edited April 18, 2014 by SYN_Requiem
ST_Pirato Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 A big thank you for all your efforts Requiem. Your tutorial videos got me off the Ground in RoF and also will in BoS.
SimHog Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Oh man, I just stumbled across this thread, you da man Requiem. Just one thing, using your G940 profile and when in the F4, the machine guns don't fire for me, cannons are no problem. I've remapped the machine guns to various buttons but they just don't fire. Any ideas? Thanks for the videos mate, they're awesome.
SimHog Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Edit to previous post - the machine gun issue seems to have fixed itself after restarting the sim.
Matt Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 The engine has too be running, otherwise the machineguns don't fire. The controls profile looks great, i'm using a similar setup for the Warthog. I don't think there's any plane that needs both the water radiator and cowling flaps controls, so one could just bind those to the same buttons.
