Troopers Tales...

Just thought I'd share one of my 'likes' with the game, or any combat flight simulator to be honest.

After several missions in career, I do enjoy the sensation of getting to know the map, or your 'Area of Operations', and that realisation that after some time, you actually get to understand where you are, and where the easily recognisable landmarks are, without having to keep checking that map.

A glance at that series of small lakes, or an L shaped wood, or even that large Y junction in a river... that instantly lets you orientate yourself and you know in a flash where you are, what direction the front line is, or more importantly, where your home airfield is.

Using small snippets of info like that, then makes getting from A to B that much easier, in conjunction with of course, the old favourite, '' if the sun was on my front right going out, it will be on my rear left coming back!''

That's why I like Kuban so much, as getting your bearings from the geography is relatively easy compared to BoS or BoM. Find the coastline or mountain range, keep it on my left (or right) and I know I'm going where I want to go. I love that map, just wish I saw it more in the MP servers.

Getting there (and back) is certainly a huge part of the game.  Sometimes I surprise myself with a kind of bird sense that sees me navigating across some very long distances to find my way home.
