Choosing MP game modes - Pacific Air War??

So eh...is it just me or that a pic of an F4F wildcat in combat over some aircraft carriers? Is there more to this or just a random pic they put in?

Pacific is not available yet, maybe in the future if the development team can obtain the necessary information they need for some aircraft.

 

Two things you might have seen here or elsewhere:

 

Some missions have been made with videos portraying existing aircraft painted as American, Australian, New Zealand and Japanese and using the Kuban map as a stand in for the Pacific theater.

 

Art work was posted showing what a possible Pacific cover would look like if available in a boxed format.

I was wondering about that too. Who knows? At best at this stage I guess it is a suttle hint at the far future.  At worst it is just a cool pic.

Jason did a AMA on TS around September last year. Pacific was tentatively slated for this current dev cycle, but had to be delayed because getting hold of and translating material relating especially to the Japanese aircraft needed more time than they had available.

Jason made it clear, that he wants to see the pacific in IL2 as much as anyone, they just need more time to gather what they need, so that they can deliver a product of the kind of quality that we have come to expect.

That's what I recall from my dodgy memory anyway  I think shamrock has the event transcribed on his Stormbirds website somewhere

I see kuban as a testing ground for pacific...

crazy open 3D water, subs, (needs battleships, carriers...) dynamic weather with cloud layers, etc.

 

with Bodenplatte, possible advanced fuel control, external fuel tanks..... hydraulic failures??? Pretty much endurance flying..

 

aside from just gaining the aircraft knowledge to put them together , I feel there’s a lot more behind the scenes that’s taking place...

 

we we are getting more detailed tanks... hopefully... hopefully some kind of basic infantry as well...

 

its gonna come to a point where we are going to have to replay everything we’ve done already and it will be a whole new experience....

I actually think that we are, eventually, going to see it. Just don't keep bugging them about it because they have made it pretty clear what the situation is cencerning The Pacific. Lots of people want it, and Jason wants to do it. Now, will I live to see it?...I don't know. 

Oh, by the way. Where is this Wildcat scene that everyone keeps talking about?

yep where you choose between COOP or Dogfight - the dogfight icon is a pic of F4Fs in action over carriers. 

 

I quite like this little reminder that its not all just eastern front focused. man I'm so hyped for Bodenplatte!!! I know this will bring in more players who've stayed away from IL2 because it doesn't really have western a/c

 Hell, yeah, I'm one of them. I had no intention of getting this. But then Bodenplatte was announced and I pre-ordered. Something I NEVER do. I don't like pre-ordering games but I had to do it.  Got Stalingrad during the Christmas sale to see if I was gonna like what they're doin. I like it.
