smink1701 Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Just got a new ASUS monitor and when I went to start BOS I got "Can not create Direct 3D Device D#DERR_INVALIDCALL. I got the same message when I tried to launch ROF but was able to update the resolution in settings to 1920 X 1080 and the game then launched fine. I thought the same approach would work for BOS so I went into Data/Startup and changed the resolution to 1920 X 1080 but getting the same error message. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated...HELP!
FG28Kodiak Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Reinstalled DirectX 9.0? Reinstalled VisualC runtimes?
Emgy Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 (edited) Did you install the monitor driver or are you using the windows generic driver? PS it would help if you could post your dxdiag info. Edited January 11, 2014 by Calvamos
smink1701 Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 Thanks for your input but I decided to return the monitor.
LLv34_Flanker Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 S! Was it one of these new G-Sync monitors or just an ordinary one? I see no reason why the monitor would cause this as the error seems to point towards the GPU. Did the monitor have full DVI connector with more pins in use? I had to get a new DVI cable because of that to my 120Hz ViewSonic or it would not use full potential of the screen. The screen itself had drivers detected by Windows.
smink1701 Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 it was a new 27" ASUS monitor and I connected first with DVI and then tried HDMI. In both cases got the same error message - Can not create Direct 3D Device - when I tried to start ROF or BOS. FSX opened fine??? Anyway, changing the screen res in ROF fixed the problem and the game opened and looked great. BUT, changing game res in BOS using Data/start up didn't fix. I think it may have fixed the prob if I reinstalled BOS but I wasn't in the mood.
