Wolfram-Harms Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 Nice video - especially with that illustrative 3D view part at the end. Should be interesting to see a similar situation against a human player - those online aces are always much harder to catch; they seem to know EVERY trick of their aircraft and equipment. Is that 3D view available in BoS, or is it an additional program?
JG27*Kornezov Posted April 24, 2018 Author Posted April 24, 2018 (edited) This is the Tacview software. That is a freemium software. So this tactical view is avaialble for free. This software works really great in DCS too. The software I inspired by the military, and is used by the military (The French Airforce), as it can use telemetry from real plane data. And actually that was in the EU official server not offline. Edited April 24, 2018 by JG27_Kornezov 1 1
JG27*Kornezov Posted April 24, 2018 Author Posted April 24, 2018 (edited) Hi check this thread: Here you can even ask directly the developers questions. You need to enable the support in the game by changing an option in the setup file. Then the file is generated every-time you make a record. The records are stored in the same folder where the tracks are. So you either click the files or you open the program and setup the path to open them. In DCS the folders are stored in a different way. Thanks to this software it is possible to visualize the Air Combat Maneuvers. Nevertheless the functionality is disabled for some servers because it may serve to have players to use it as Radar intercept. It is very interesting to check your tactical awareness and perception to the tacview record afterwards. The debriefing is very important for training of military pilots. Well it sure made for a cool video. Good stuff!
Wolfram-Harms Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 Thanks a lot, Kornezov - I had no idea this tool existed!
JG27*Kornezov Posted April 25, 2018 Author Posted April 25, 2018 (edited) There are 2 ways to use the software. The first one is obvious. It is to analyze the ARM (Air combat maneuvers) as a pro. Even if you limit just to the geometry it is a huge improvement. To go further away you can analyze several metrics. (Even if the data is not reliable per se it allows to perceive differences). It is not just important to see the geometry but to know at each critical point what are the metrics: angle of attack; g load, turn rate; turn radius, roll rate. That is the advanced mode, every pilot has an unique signature. Some pilots I can recognize them only looking at the data. Dogfight aces fly in completely different way than the average or even advanced virtual pilots. Edited April 25, 2018 by JG27_Kornezov

But this tool can definitely help a lot with learning, to see what I did wrong, and what others do in dogfight situations. I think it will be a great help - thanks for bringing this to my attention! Do you know what the advance version (buy-version) offers? Is it worth to buy?
JG27*Kornezov Posted April 25, 2018 Author Posted April 25, 2018 There are from time to time reductions. I purchased the advanced version when the price is reduced. The basic free version is a very good way to start and you have full functionality (premium) for one month. If you begin I can say that practice is necessary but not sufficient condition. Perfect practice makes perfect. For fast advancement there is no substitute for guidance. That is why the squadrons are for. We fly as organized team only once per week from 18 PM CET to 21 PM. The best place to learn team tactics is the eu official server. Right now we have only one pilot position available PM. for further details.
