Unable to complete 3.002 update

Several of us on the forum are having the same problem where the Update gets about 80% completed (in my case at >850 mB/s) then drops to <0.3 MB/sec, or the size of the download keeps growing faster than the files being downloaded.

 

I have rebooted the computer several times to no avail and the second to last attempt McAfee stopped the download because it thought it was a dodgy connection.

 

I also deleted the 18-04-18 folder in the Updates folder to no avail.

 

Internet is working fine other than this.

Did you try to untick the option "seed when downloading"?

 

Because I had a similar problem when updating DCS - too slow and uncomplete. So I just skipped

downloading via torrent et voilà - no trouble anymore.

I just unticked it, do I need to restart the client thingy.

ohh I am at 11 KBs now

 

which is an improvement for sure

It is not ticked. Neither is the Prefer Web Distribution, should that be ticked?

I don't know, Monsieur Pierre, but have a go - who knows. I really hope it may help you.

 

Just had a look in the manual - yes, absolutely tick the Web Distribution, it avoids any torrent

downloads and connects directly with the official game server.

Have you ticked the option "Prefer Web Distribution"? See my post above...

I just tried it but it still only at 0.11 mB/sec download

I'm having the same problem. I'm using web distribution. I got failed to update message on one of the attempts. I looked at the update.log file and there are several errors reported. It looks like several files are messed up.

I closed the client and it restarted the download. still going very slow.

Well I have now been trying for over 3 hours. I just ticked Web Distribution again and it is now doing the ever increasing size of the download again. I am going to close it again and wait for an official response or from someone with a fix before attempting again.

Same here. I have a download speed of 0 (it actually does download, but it takes like 3 minutes to get to 1 MB) and then it says update fails. Just bought BoK, what a fantastic start. I hope that is not an indicator for the usability of the game in the future when the developer cannot get their server going, WHAT GIVES?

Aaaaand it failed again. Damn, I wanted to fly now. I literally just bought it 15 minutes ago, and now they put a non-working update up, lol.

Don’t lose faith heartc, this is extremely unusual updates normally go smoothly. Be patient and you will end up enthralled with your purchase of the best flight sim on the market.

Same thing happening here.  First D/L attempt tonight failed with a "Failed to update" message (after I left it for about 45 minutes to watch some TV).  Second and third attempts (after deleting the update folder contents before each try) gave me an initial file size of about 385 MB, but each time when it got to 114 MB the speed dropped to single digit Kbps and the file size started bloating up into the 420+ MB size.  I cancelled out the 2nd attempt when it got to about 430 MB file size, and the third attempt is still going (now up to about 520 MB in size, still only 115 MB D/L'ed).

 

Never really had any trouble with previous updates - guess I'll give it up for tonight and try again tomorrow.

 

[EDIT] just for grins, I tried it one more time, this time with "prefer web" checked - no difference - still got to 114 MB and speed dropped and file size started growing, just like the last couple of tries.  Maybe things will have calmed down tomorrow.

Yeah, it's just bad luck. But I guess it is more of a server problem right now rather than an update file problem, because I don't have any of the game files installed yet and have the same problem from the very start of the download as you guys.

Yes I forgot to mention in the original post that during one of the attempts I had a pop up from McAffe to say they had stopped the download because it was a dodgy connection.

Having some troubles here too.

 

First update didn't start at all. Second update completed the download (I think) and then failed to update. Third one is doing the same as the first.

 

I've never had problems before although right now my launcher seems to not be remembering me changing to Prefer Web Distribution. I think its a read-only error but I can't find the launcher config file.

I finally got mine to work after multiple attempts. I deleted the update folder and tried a couple of times after that. The download progress bar doesn't seem to be indicative of actual progress because the game started installing the update before that was 50% complete.

Go in your updates, grab the torrent file 18-04-18 and open it directly with your preferred torrent client, no probleemo.

 

Actually there is a problem, the torrent files ain't all there, and no seeds, so server must be down.  Until a few seeds reconnect, ain't happening, connect your bit client and go to bed.

I wouldn’t do that wait until we get a fix from the devs as this appears to be a server problem it’s after 0900 in Moscow now so hopefully a fix shouldn’t be too long coming.

Unless you're on limited bandwidth I don't see why that wouldn't be worth the try. We've been faffing around trying to download this for a day now. Really had enough!
