WWSitttingDuck Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 Am testing COOP missions thru the game's create server option, and am getting constant "multiplayer server overload" Most of these missions are older dogfight mission I am converting to coop format, and they ran fine (thru the dserver) as dogfight missions. Is COOP more demanding than Dogfight?
[DBS]Tx_Tip Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 In short Yes. Which is due to a large number of variables. Number of Players and their AI Aircraft, Designated AI aircraft, linked entities-objects-vehicles-trains-artillery, number of moving objects, number of ships, number of moving ships. Is everything going off at once or is it being staggered in during mission start? Remove all Buildings/Bridges/Airfields from the MAP which are not going to be seen by players. Then cut what you have going on by 1/2 in the Dogfight mission. As a test install all the Player and designated AI aircraft that you want in the CoOP and run the mission in your Dogfight server where everything is active and the AI Aircraft are involved with the Ground, Ships, Trains, Flak and themselves. etc... viewing sds and ticks... What have you got? High sds, steady 50, and very very low ticks <10 should be the baseline. If not then cut the mission again by a 1/4. The Devs included a CoOP Mission with the update. Check how that is running. Good Luck, Tip
SCG_Schneemann Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 Also, I found that I have MSO messages in Co op since you can only host on your flying PC, and not on a second Dserver PC at the moment. So you are not running a mission on a dedicated PC, but running it on your flying PC, so it is doing double duty (hosting and flying). It should work better once they can get Dserver Co-op hosting activated. As Tip said, about all we can do now is reduce things.
WWSitttingDuck Posted April 15, 2018 Author Posted April 15, 2018 Trouble with coop's (unless you can tell me something I don't know) is you can not test them by yourself thru the dserver.....it wont start the mission with only one player.
Nocke Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 I have not yet tried to start a Coop through dserver, but via the built in server it is possible to start it with one player. There must be some other condition preventing you from doing that. Perhaps you need more than 1 slot available? Just guessing ...
coconut Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 My guess is that the spectating account used by DServer is preventing the mission start, as it never gets "ready"
[DBS]Tx_Tip Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 Nobody was ever suggesting you run a CoOp Mission through your Dserver to test. You mentioned that older Dogfight missions were the base for the CoOPs that don't work properly. If you are having Server Overload then make the changes reducing your load as suggested to the Dogfight Mission. Put in the all the AI aircraft, including however many Players you want in your CoOP then check your Sds and Ticks when running the mission as a Dogfight. That will give you a baseline for Objects-Players-AI etc. Work off that to make your CoOPs clean.
SCU_Server Posted April 28, 2018 Posted April 28, 2018 I wish we could get rid of the "multiplayer server overload" it's totally un-necessary for most servers, I get it on mine when lots of AI spawn and the server runs fine, I have neever seen any issues, I know you can hide it with the disable UI option but then you also lose other items you want to see.
