New user, what next?

Well, I don't know what exactly do you mean / want with your question? So, for me it is:

It's Sunday morning, 11h14 right now and I woke up half an hour ago. What's next is:

- Brush my teeth

- Have a smoke on the balcony with a cup of delicious black coffee (no milk!)

- Going for a shower and shaving

- Feed the cats

- Clean the cat litter

- Probably have another smoke on the balcony

- Start up my gaming rig and try to do some flying.

Have a nice and comfy day.

Cheerio

I added the following to my original post:

- IL-2 Plane Reference (Sortable Tables)

- BOM Cockpits and Operation Quick Guide

- Pilot Notes

- IL-2 Mission Planner

In my original post, I corrected the link for "Pilot Notes" and added "Realistic flight manuals for the game" right after that.

What's next? Technically... everything.

Get familiar with each aircraft in Quick Mission. Practice taxiing, take-off and landings. Then start practicing map navigation. You can fly alone, against ground targets, with or without ground defense. You can then try a few dogfights, although I recommend target practice on the Ju52 or IL-2 first, before you start mingling with them Yaks. You can start a career but it might be a bit confusing for a new player as there are some quirks to the AI. Then jump into a multiplayer server with a ground attacker (Pe-2, Ju87) or bomber and ignore all planes for a while, lest you start firing on friendlies and get kicked.

Where are the buyable aircraft?

What did you buy? You should have many aircrafts allready in your game.

The buyable aircraft can be found on the store section, where you buy things.

If you are talking about collector planes, they aren't on the home page.  They are in a tab in the store page: https://il2sturmovik.com/store/collector-planes/

You may want to learn the game a bit before getting collector planes; they are on steep sales occasionally as well.   You can use them (or BoX different versions) you bought in IL2 website even if your original purchase was from Steam.

Take off in 5 minutes

fly around enjoying the scenery for 10 minutes

Die

Rinse and repeat, until the time between take off and death increases, with maybe a little landing practice thrown in :)

Step 1: decide whether you want to play MP or SP

Step 2: Decide what you want to do: fighters, ground attack, dive bombers, level bombers, transport

Step 3: Find a plane that does what you want to do.  Every Great Battles product will at least have one or more fighters, ground attack, and level bomber.  The PE2 and Ju87 can dive bomb (both available in the Battle of Stalingrad module).  The only transport is the Ju52 which is a separate purchase.

Pick a side and pick a plane.

Use Quick Mission to learn the basics of flying your plane.  Get to the point where you can take off, land, and perform the basic functions (hit another plane, drop bombs, whatever your plane is supposed to do)

Because this is a pretty detailed sim there is a need to spend some time learning before trying to do.  Once you feel comfortable, fly some single player missions against the AI,start a single player campaign, or go online and fly against humans.

For myself I fly fighters and attack.  I do both badly :).  Some transport.  Never got past a couple of quick missions in bombers.

You have aircrafts to fly in the game and you can try to fly them, that is a good start! :salute:
