CAPSLOCK_ON Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 (edited) Hey folks, After I've learned how to edit the camera attachments I went deeper and tweaked ReShade just so I could emulate the films from WWII era. I got some pretty convincing results so far, only if I could find to somehow make ReShade also add dust and speckles it would be pretty spot on. Anyway, here are two short clips I did for testing purposes. They are from the game tracks, where I recorded the kills and then played back with ReShade on and guncamera view selected. It is like watching your own gun camera footage after landing from a sucessful sortie. For the real time recording I used AMD ReLive. Edited April 14, 2018 by CAPSLOCK_ON 1
=FI=Macca Posted August 20, 2018 Posted August 20, 2018 Looks nice and convincing. Could you share the settings?

I guess you want the ReShade settings. My ReShade stopped working after I upgraded my videocard and drivers, and as I currently got some lack of spare time I sort of stopped flying for a few weeks, so I couldn't figure out yet to get ReShade working again, but it is sort of easy with the basic filters, to start with: - Adjust the color saturation filter to 0 for B&W looks; - Add/turn on a noise filter, adjust the parameters as you see fit trying to achieve a look that resembles the old WWII films; - I added a bloom filter to emulate the overexposure some films get when the camera points to bright spots on the scene; - Added a vignetting filter; - Added a motion blur filter with a subtle setting just so you can blur slightly only really fast moving objects (like propellers and bullets); These are the basics, as I did it from memory (I'm at work now), perhaps you can add or remove some more filters as you see fit to achieve the desired final effect. One good parameter to have is to watch real WWII gun camera footage and try to replicate their looks when fiddling with ReShade filters and settings. Regards, Edited August 20, 2018 by CAPSLOCK_ON
CAPSLOCK_ON Posted April 13, 2019 Author Posted April 13, 2019 (edited) Hey folks, After a few months break and a hardware change (now with NVidia's ShadowPlay), I've done some more testing on this gun camera mimmick from Il-2 BoS. Here is the first try: Edited April 13, 2019 by CAPSLOCK_ON 3
CAPSLOCK_ON Posted April 13, 2019 Author Posted April 13, 2019 Did one more today, I recommend watching on 240p for a more historical look ? 1
CAPSLOCK_ON Posted April 16, 2019 Author Posted April 16, 2019 One more testing of the processing. What I like about ReShade is that you can tweak on-the-fly the post-processing VFX, but the video editor (like Shotcut, which I'm currently using) gives a nice final touch with some filters, besides joining the individual clips together. This one is about 109F against P-40's sturdiness.
