SYN_Luftwaffles Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 Hey fellows, I hope someone can point me in the right direction. My horizon looks super jittery. I've got a 1070, an SSD, 16 gigs of RAM, and an i7 8700k. What setting do I need to adjust to make distant land not look so hazy/jittery.
Toxin1 Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 Cracking up AA and Supersampling are your friends when it comes to the aliasing of the clouds on the horizon. I fly VR and need to push the AA and SS up to max on my 1080TI. Your mileage may vary.
Wedgewood Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 I found it best to go to Nvidia control panel and make sure your AA is set to application controlled, then use only in game AA. if full AA isn't enough Supersampling in Nvidia control panel will also help, both are at the expense of performance. If you lower your gamma it will increase the midtone and shadow contrast making the ground appear less hazy, it also helps with spotting by adding the extra contrast.
Lemon Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 (edited) hi with a 1070 i d say -AA 4x (Anti-aliasing) from ingame settings -Anti-aliasing transparency from driver tab or Nvidia inspector (3 choices) multisampling Supersampling Sparse Grid Supersampling (from Nvidia inspector only) i prefer multi sampling, cause it add less glittering over cities and trees and less barber shop light effect on fences around houses, Sparse Grid Supersampling (SGSSAA) do the best job for AA, long distance roads and beaches look more naturals but it is more gpu demanding, (also know Sparse Grid Supersampling need to be set the same X amount of ingame AA 2x-2x or 4x-4x) not applicable for regular supersampling when you find the settings you like you can try the post AA, FXAA from Nvidia driver tab, it does actually a good job with BOx but it add a bit of blurr but it can be reduced with ingame setting (Sharpen) . And for the "hazy" effect on ground, you want the ingame setting (landscape filter to Blurry) Notes, if you like ingame HDR setting ON, know it can accentuate Aliashing visibility of distant rivers ,it does greatly on my setup, i need it off but it can be different on yours. Also, in nvidia driver tab you can see a choice of MFAA, it help regular AA to be more efficient(in therory) but the only compatible Transparency AA with this is multisampling, all others can introduce glitch, some withe lines on ocean with BOx for exemple... personally even if it is not GPU demanding , i don t see much benefit of MFAA. Do your tests and enjoy sir ! Edited April 11, 2018 by Lemon misspelling, again 1
