chris455 Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 Hi gents, I used to be pretty good at making missions in the "old" IL2, but the new ME intimidated me when first released. Recently, however, I am acquainting myself with Prangster's excellent tutorial and guide. I'm determined to learn this now. That being said, I am running into an issue where, when I launch a new mission I have created, I spawn onto the runway, sans airplane, and am promptly informed that I am dead. Some things I have checked: I am using the green arrow "set on ground" I have designated the airplane the "player" plane I have made this plane a "linked" entity. Do I have to set a takeoff waypoint at my spawn airfield? Can someone help me identify my dumb? Many thanks in advance- Chris
SCG_Schneemann Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 Try this: This linked thread of mine is basically the same issue. What is worse is that if the season is set wrong, it can cause the player planes to 'explode' on spawning registering the player as killed. It's an odd one, but can be worked around with a little patience
SCG_Schneemann Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 Hahaha... not at all :D It took the wrong quote. It sounds like a season thing. Sometimes it shows up as "" and you need to set to "su" or "wi". It took the embedded quote instead of the one I was trying to send...
TP_Silk Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 (edited) Chris, there's a good chance that it is the seasonal thing. If it won't set in the FME then just edit the file in notepad or notepad++ and change the season setting as above. Should be okay after that but you should also check that the weather is set correctly as this is all tied together. Make sure that the clouds setting is not blank. Edited April 11, 2018 by TP_Silk

Hey there Silk - do I need to make a bug report on the beta forum? Season settings not sticking between saves?
TP_Silk Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 Gambit, it seems to happen quite randomly and seems to occur most often after zipping up the files, sending them to someone else, unzipping and then re-saving the files. The thing is that it's not consistent and will be a swine to pin down. I've also seen it happen when converting files from before the release of Kuban up to the latest version. It would be good if the devs were aware of this, but as it is so hitty/missy to reproduce I'm not sure whether they will accept it as a bug.
SCG_Schneemann Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 I've had it hit two pre-3.001 release missions while converting, and about 15 with no issues. I agree, it's sort of a random thing, just sort of be aware?
Gambit21 Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 Silk - I've had dates re-set when re-saving between versions as well and have reported this. I'm going to quote you and update that report. I'm worried about the ongoing integrity of campaigns and such after updates. 1
