UPS just showed up and brought me the new 27" iMac. Gotta finish some urgent work before I can do anything to it, but hopefully it will be up and running tomorrow night! Very excited now!

The specs are:

NVIDIAGeForceGTX780M 4GB GDDR5
3.5GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM-2X4GB

I'll probably expand the RAM somewhere in the future, but the plan for the end of the year is still to get the new Mac Pro (since I can get a substantial discount on it).

Now where's my Windows 8?!

Congrats! Was toying with the idea to purchase one of these super sexy machines, but Alas! the money issue ...

well yeah, they're not cheap, but so far all my Apple stuff has performed flawlessly. If you want to get yourself one keep an eye out for the 0% interest rate deals they do every now and then, you won't regret it!

Nice! That setup will see BoS maxed out no problemo.

let's hope so!  :salute:

Go for 2x8GB RAM, you will need this when big missions are coming in BOS.

Except with a 32 Bit .exe it can't utilize anything beyond 4GB at the max.

ok, installed Win 8.1 last night and managed to make a 2 minutes flight with the 109 before going to bed, it runs smooth with everything maxed out, do you guys know how I can see the FPS ingame though?

Nvidia Shadowplay all life long. With 780 gpu, my opinion, it's the best value.

Finally got the Mac Pro (6core/D700). After getting my video editing setup configured and all of the data transferred to an external RAID, I am now running BoS under windows 8.1 (only OS that is supported by Bootcamp for the Mac Pro).

Runs beautifully, but I've had a few crashes where the program closes, usually when shooting at something during the intercept mission. System runs cool and solid with no slow downs or stutters at 80 fps locked as per the launcher. I do need to tweak control settings, which I generally despise doing, to get a better feel out of the hardware. Feels like there isn't much inertia in the planes, especially in yaw response.

No way to control the single fan speed so far on the new Mac Pro, but it does run in Crossfire for games that support it under windows only (amazing, no mac support for crossfire in games, but it uses dual cards for video in final cut pro x and other programs). GPU's run at about 70-80C with essentially no noise out of the onboard fan.

Finally got to play the sim and very much enjoy being back in a fighter cockpit! Been a long time since I had smooth frame rates in any aviation sim, and it is obvious that BoS has great potential. I got an upright ME109  spin to go inverted. That takes ham-handed talent and decent physics modeling. ;)

That is ONE MEAN MACHINE!

The crash is most likely BOS not your rig.

Have a blast with it.

S!

Hey Sternjaeger

How are you and your new rig getting along?

it's going great actually! I'm also using Win 8.1 (which is mega fast!) and I have to say I'm really satisfied: I'm running all maxed out and apart for the same graphic issues everybody else is having, everything else is very very smooth! I'm flying DCS and COD again at full blast, I need to get myself some FPS now to have some diversity though lol

The only true disappointment is with Windows 8 itself: some games just don't wanna work with it.. I have Steel Fury 1942 or whatever the name is, and the game won't see my graphic card for some reason :-(

That's one of the reasons I stayed with 7 on my build I didn't want to miss out on anything.

I'm glad to hear you are pleased and having fun with it. See you in the sky soon
