109 AI is not bad at booming me...

Was flying on a bomber intercept mission. The cloud was low about 700 metres so we were just above it. Checked map, look back, lost my Squad.

 

After a while of wandering around trying to find them, I spotted the bombers at quite a distance away and saw tracer- My squad was attacking! I kicked my La5 into gear, checked 6 and headed that way. Suddenly, tracer flew by my cockpit. I turned and dived and turned round on an AI 109 that had dived on me. He dived down and into the cloud.

 

Ok, I wasn`t going to follow him in there so I stayed above, watching and checking my 6. After a minute or so - nothing. Decided to head towards the bombers, checking my 6. A minute later I am again attacked from high, busted me up, had to bail- Too low. Iron man Stalingrad Career ruined.

 

  Nice one AI. I gotta remember to look UP not just behind.

Yeah those pesky 109's are kinda known for doing that...

It's reports like this that I hope to see myself in this sim. And what I purchased this sim for.

Even though it's only a couple of paragraphs seafireliv I really enjoyed reading this,it put me right there with you.

 

Its another tip for me to learn..I must check above,not just my 6. Learning and more learning is my aim.

I wonder sometimes if most guys assumptions about the poor AI are based solely on the "expert" version? To me it has the most unrealistic behavior in nearly every sim I've ever flown. Of course it is the one I, and I suspect most of us, base our fighter skills on. I've had some great fights against lower skill levels through the years. They don't tend to pull maneuvers a human pilot couldn't do like expert AI will do. I think they will react more humanly by making the mistakes experts don't. It's all a work in progress and I expect it will improve with time.

Mmuahahahahaaa!!!

They are quite pesky indeed, and hard to see! They surprised me in my MiG-3 (Defense of Stalingrad) like that,
and even more dangerously (later G-types!) in my Kuban carreer.

And yes, Iron Man - dead is dead. But I like it - they make it thrilling!
