313_Paegas Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 (edited) No. 313 Squadron RAF was a Czechoslovak fighter squadron of the RAF in the WWII The squadron was formed at on 10 May 1941. It was the last RAF squadron to be formed mostly of escaped Czechoslovak pilots. Its first commander was the British Squadron Leader Gordon Sinclair. On 29 July a Czechoslovak pilot Josef Jaške, was appointed as joint commander of the squadron. The plan was for responsibility to be transferred gradually from Sinclair to Jaške. The squadron was equipped initially with Supermatine Spitfire MkI. On 30 June 1941 it moved to RAF Leconfield in the East Riding of Yorkshire. In August the squadron was re-equipped with the Spitfire MkIIa,and on 25 August it moved to RAF Portreath inCornwalll. In October the squadron was re-equipped with the Spitfire MkVb/c. Within the 11th group, the Squadron earned its glory for a good performance during high-altitude cover, which it performed for most of its time in the south-east of England. In this war period German fighters were informed by the radar stations about the approaching British aircraft, they were able to take off in time and, as it was their custom, to rise above them and from this adventege position with the sun in backs attack them. That is why the height cover was very difficult and dangerous because the pilots who performed it were "the first on the wound". Therefore, only the best squadrons were selected for high-heeled cover. This task was given to the 313rd Squadron in Hornchurch Wing, which had been given a call sign "Butcher" Spitfires of 313rd Squadron are also known for their cartoons of Nazi regime figures, traditional cartoon characters, or personal symbols of the happiness of pilots flying on a particular machine. The author of a number of hilarious drawings was Sgt. Karel Pavlík, who died on May 5, 1942, in a fight with the German ace Hptm. Josef "Pips" Priller. download: https://uloz.to/!JvtQoBELTiIg/spitfiremkvb-313th-czechoslovak-sq-raf-zip Edited February 25, 2019 by 313_Paegas 4 1 1
