KaC_Richard_Rogers Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 I guess only light plane pilots will be able to advise if the inside cockpit reflection is a tad overdone. The issue I have with the reflection is also amplified because quite often the pilots head would be between the sun and the glass meaning that where I am looking from/through would be shaded anyway.
[DBS]Browning Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 You can lessen it by turning the mirrors down in graphic options. 1
Yardstick Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 (edited) Overdone reflections is something that I have taken issue with way back from when I was creating aircraft for FS:SDOE in the early 2000s. In reality, when the eye focuses on a window, you will see the reflections, dirt and scratches. However, when you focus on something beyond the window, any reflections / dirt goes out of focus and the brain filters it out. So in practice the reflection is much less prominent and most of the time is not a significant impediment to vision. Any wearer of glasses will know that they have to be pretty dirty before they have any real impact on vision. Clearly we can't alter our focal length in the 2D representaiton of the world of a flight sim, so the compromise is to tone down the graphihcal effect to reproduce that real world perception. Some reflections are necessary to help with the sense of enclosue in a perspex cockpit but do not make them too prominent. My personal feeling is that the effect, whilst visually appealing, is a little overdone in this sim. Edited April 7, 2018 by Yardstick typo
blitze Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 Agreed, something that could be toned down some. I find the reflections can be blinding in instances whereby I can't make out much beyond the cockpit (low sun between 5 and 7 of my plane, morning or evening). A bit annoying when in a fight and trying to maintain a visual on your opposition. I do fly with HDR enabled on a calibrated monitor to 120cd/m2
Frenchy56 Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 True, when you look at the wing opposite to the sun, you can see an empty cockpit.
