Bilbo_Baggins Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 (edited) Gents, Want to investigate my terrible pausing/stuttering that I know many also suffer mainly on the Kuban map. They are worst right after spawning in a plane and looking around, however they never really go away, especially on Kuban map, and can completely ruin some attack runs or even leave you 6 feet under. I find with anything less than 2 or 3 times distant terrain detail setting, the distant near horizon fields and textures look unacceptable, like a terrible blur. This graphics setting, however, prompts you that 3gb VRAM is recommended. When I use windows 10 task manager to see the RAM usage, I'm only about mid 70% taken, with the game using 1.5GB itself. I have a 2GB VRAM RX460 card with 4GB system ram, therefore I'm wondering a few things: -Is the 3gb VRAM still needed for 3x distant terrain detail if the game is only using 1.5gb total anyway? -Is a SSD possibly going to help with long stutters? -Is this just an optimization issue after the new update? I am running 720p resolution at 60fps, vsync on. It is nice and smooth but these very long pauses are terrible. Regards Edited April 6, 2018 by Mcdaddy

A good quality SSD is well worth the investment In your OS. I would also look at increasing your system ram, the more you can load into it the less your system will use a swap file on your drive during gaming.
dburne Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 Mmm, I am going to say that video card with just 2gb of vram along with just 4gb of system ram is likely hurting you. SSD will help in load times, not necessarily in the stutters, especially with those low ram numbers.
Bilbo_Baggins Posted April 7, 2018 Author Posted April 7, 2018 (edited) Ok thanks guys. But my ram is only used up to the mid 70% range, therefore I don't need a swap file and it's enough right? I understand the 'more is better' mentality with everything hardware related, but from what I understand, you either have enough RAM or you don't. Is this correct? The fact my ram is only 3/4 used shouldn't mean it's affecting the performance in anyway? Cheers Edited April 7, 2018 by Mcdaddy
