sparty72 Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 Just started a Stalingrad campaign, in a veritable LaGG 3, 2 mission and dropped 2 f4's which i was very happy with, then fell into a gaggle (4) of 109G2's which promptly followed me across the map with several dodges until i was nailed just short of my airfield! 10 mins of being chased with hot rod 109's deciding "I'm it" , that cant be right for AI surely??!! if it is it's broken imo!! Regards Sparty
Thad Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 (edited) Salutations, Darn those pesky Germans. How dare they decide to pursue a Russian fighter and shoot it down. Actually, the AI does do some tactically unrealistic things sometimes. The developers will continue to tweak AI performance. The AI isn't broken, just not perfect yet, (and probably never will be). But if they do this consistently, players can set up an ambush by a single plane attacking a flight that then runs away towards allies waiting to swoop down upon the chasing craft. II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 Why wouldn't an enemy pair or schwarm chase a single enemy aircraft for ten minutes? I, as a live pilot, certainly would fuel, ammo and top cover considering.......
seafireliv Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 It`s not the fixated chasing that bothers me, it`s the chasing over a friendly active airfield and even over a SECOND friendly active airfield until they`re shot down that bothers me. It`s just silly. Like they`re Terminators, not Humans.
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 The AI has been improved to not just lock onto a single aircraft anymore - unless you are the ONLY aircraft. Then all bets are off. They are AI, not combat pilots, and they see you. At that point they are a little terminator like. It is a game in the end. Limits of technology and other caveats apply.
dburne Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 Yep happens to me in my Spit Career, thankfully only occasionally.
Feathered_IV Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 Happens to me a bit. I just turn under them on the deck and they plow into the ground. Sometimes two at a time. Problem solved.
Finkeren Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 IIRC one of the last major updates to Rise of Flight brought a change to the AI that limited for how long a fighter would chase an enemy. I wonder if this ever made it into this sim’s AI.
